I was loking for a Webbrowser for the Wii.
I already have the official Opera thing but the Flashplayer7 limitation is getting annoying.
I was wondering if there are any projects to improve our interwebs experience [IMG]
Maybe over a linuxOS for the Wii or something.

kLiNiKaL got opera/firefox and gnash (os flash alternative) running and watched some justin.tv.

he is preparing a package with all needed files and a howto.

Don´t expect to much [IMG]. It´s still very buggy (for example video driver shows sometimes wrong colours or freezing apps) but hey MIKE isn´t even finished and actually the wifi drivers work fine.

Just wait until everything is really finished and anyway why not simply use your PC to browse.

yer dont be expecting to be amazed, with the limited RAM of the console, its at times very stuttering during playback...i'm in work at the moment.

i'll be packaging up what i have when i get home and maybe a few of us can put our heads together and see how far we get.

That's good news. I've never used anything in Linux ever, but I'm getting curious and want to try it out on the Wii.

I don't know what guy's getting in to, or what's going to actually come of it. But if you want a more fair first time experience with linux you should really burn a live cd. It'll let you try a lot of the main things w/o making any actual changes to your system. Once you're done you just re-boot and remove the dvd from your drive. Ubuntu's installation disk can be used as a Live CD, and it's one of the most popular/mainstream distros. I'd say give that a shot.

btw. there is a hb webbrowser in development called wiiXplore. it's said that it will have a lot of nice features like latest flash implementation. don't get confused with dimocs wiixplorer, it's a complete different project.
