Bethesda's Starfield locks in a release date, will be Xbox and PC exclusive

Announced at E3 2021, courtesy of Todd Howard himself was the release date for Starfield, the long-awaited new game from Bethesda. A cinematic trailer showed some details about the world, including a release date, for November 11th, 2022. In addition, it was finally confirmed that Starfield will be exclusive to PC and Xbox platforms--there will be no Sony release.

Exactly 11 years to the date that skyrim was released, and 7 years + 1 day from Fallout 4's release

Whatever decade we finally get elder scrolls VI in, we can be sure it will launch in november

M$ paid a lot of money for Bethesda, let's see if going exclusive on new games pays off for them. The xbox series x is already being outsold by a factor of 2 by sony, so it's looking like another generation of xbox getting stomped

I can't wait for the hilarity of YouTube glitching through this Game.

My condolences beforehand to anyone who wasted 25 years Developing this.
Probably should've spent 1996 watching the NBA Finals instead.

That said, I do appreciate the fact that they acknowledged DLC as part of the Universe, albeit in the "Key to Unlocking Everything" language ...

Sure about that?

Both consoles are outsold constantly.

Why should Sony be able to produce twice as many consoles as Microsoft?

Not especially interested, but maybe I'll play just so I can appreciate the sfm porn a little better when it comes out.

Guess that's what happens when you decide not to strong-arm your consumers with console exclusivity. :P

It's hard to get exact data (microsoft refuses to release sales data - for obvious reasons)

https://www.videogameschronicle.com...doubled-xbox-series-x-s-sales-during-q1-2021/

Best we can do is look at estimates, but they seem to show the ps5 outperforming by about 2x

I wonder how PC facters into this, MS has been releasing everything on PC these days so software sales need to take it into account, a good comparison could be sells data for something that is Xbox + PC only compared to PS + PC.

Maybe like Halo or Gears as compared to Horizon.

I pity bethesda. Once Microsoft gets ahold of something, it turns to shit. Glad Discord is partnering with Sony rather than being bought my Microsoooft :grog:

Regardless, I have no interest in this game

You do know Discord is already partnered with MS right? has been for years.
I do agree that Discord should not sell to either of them tho.

That is not the case for all regions of the world though. In some countries, yes, the PS5 surely is winning right now, but other countries such as in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and maybe also Singapore (along with a few other countries in SE Asia) the Switch is outperforming both of them. Oh, and Sony also did their share of refusing to release full data on sales figures: such as during the early days of the PS3 and even more so with the PS Vita (at least with the PS3, they eventually managed to put some clear figures involving total sales by the last 2-3 years of the system's production run: about 55-60 million or something).
