It's a bit old, it's near impossible to find on any website because all links are dead.
It's only a demo, and is abandoned, but it's DEFINITELY worth playing. If you haven't played this fangame, you don't have the right to call yourself a zelda fan.

    'nuff said.
I could put more info, but I'd rather let you try it out yourself.

The game takes a lot of graphics from Minish Cap. I'd probably play through it if the game was on GBA or NDS.

    Graal Online?
I spent years with that game [IMG]
Mostly scripting stuff and building maps...the Level Editor and the ability to put your own content online was mindblowing...
I was sofa king good at building stuff, if I may say so myself, but never actually completed any of my larger projects [IMG]
Now the whole game and its community is a stinking pile of shit...
If you still want to try it, download it at www.graalonline.com ...I'd recommend finding an old version of Graal (1.41 or so) along with a level pack to play the game offline, though, since now even the Classic server doesn't have much in common with the original game...The new servers are all overloaded with crap and bugs and broken quests...

2d OOT but it was abandoned the last time i heard, also there is this old 2D platformer for the DS that i still have loaded on my g6 lite, it's a cool neat zelda homebrew game.

    edit: here it is

the video shows a very old build it seems as there is no music and the portal parts are gone.

    download the homebrew game here

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=W17OPYDU

link is still working it seems.

    another edit: OOT 2D pictures

a shame it was never finished though

Just tried the demo, I'm not all that impressed...
First of all, RPG Maker for a Zelda fangame?
    4-way controls? Uh-oh

Best Zelda Fangame Ever? No way...
I'd say the best one is The Parallel Worlds, a romhack of ALTTP...very impressive, fun and challenging...
Also take a look at Zelda Classic, a full remake of the original Zelda (don't be too hyped though, it's basically the same thing with high-color graphics) including a leveleditor (there's shitloads of Zelda fangames using the Zelda Classic engine)...
    http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/

And then there's also Open Zelda, an open-source leveleditor and game engine based on ALTTP...
    http://openzelda.sourceforge.net/

btw, is there something like Lunar Magic for ALTTP?
Edit: duuh, yes there is, Hyrule Magic...how could I forget?

Zelda Classic actually runs on PCs (in DOS if I remember correctly so fire up your dosbox!) and for playing any rom hack, it's simply a matter of downloading the hack (ips patch) and just using an IPS patcher (google for one) to patch the rom with the hack. Then just fire up in your favorite emulator!

And Parallel Worlds was something. I didn't get much of a chance to play far into it unfortunatly and seeing how I'm finally getting around to playing Phantom Hourglass and Cave Story, I doubt I will get back to it.

God, so many unfinished games. FF9, Super Metroid Remake, Lost Odyssy, Mas Effect, Ace Combat 6, Crysis. Plenty more I'm sure. Ah well, I'm rambling!

    http://www.romhacking.net/ for rom hacks.

That wasn't impressive, the other ones mentioned here are better.

This thread is now about romhacks and fangames in general.

Metroid fans should check out Super Metroid Redesign...
There's not much to say, it's a huge romhack of Super Metroid...very challenging, to say the least...while the design itself is nowhere as masterful as the original's, it's still the best thing there is if you've played all Metroid games and are looking for more...
    Just look at the map:
    Warning: Spoilers inside!

vatel, I'd say SMR's design is insanely masterful.
It must be so daunting to design an entire world, especially for a rom hack of super metroid where pretty much every sequence can be broken.
The level design seems very odd at first, but you adapt to it after a while and can tell when there's a hidden door etc

k, king mob has the most promising zelda fan game I know:
    [IMG][IMG]
    [IMG][IMG]
    [IMG][IMG]

I've been following his progress for quite a while now, he's the only one I know that does a ton of concept sketches and isn't just blinding running into making the game, he's planned out a lot.

    then there's tompels game:
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

He hasn't released an "amazing" demo yet, but he's getting there.
It may interest some of you to know lots of the graphics he's using are old maps and sprites I made [IMG]
But he's getting there, once it's all polished it'll be great

and then of course, there's Twinsen

    You all love twinsen [IMG]

Meh, romhacks aren't really fangames. But whatever.

OoT2D would have been awesome if it got completed, the Zelda DS fangame was pretty fun but still unfinished, and Gorthwogh's mobile Zelda game is excellent for any cell phone user.

Mattcoz's Castle of Ganon would have been awesome had it been finished. Mirror link at http://danthemanms.googlepages.com/CastleOfGanon.zip

Darkness Uprising is one of the few completed Zelda fangames I've seen. Definitely worth a look.

As for the MMO Zelda game, it wouldn't have happened to be Links of the Realm or ZeldaWorlds, would it? I played those for a while until they died.

    [/ModeratorOfZeldaFanGameCentral]

EDIT: Can't believe I forgot NaviBlast. Great quick puzzle minigame.

All he said was "i seem to remember a MMO style Zelda game from a few years ago. anyone know what it's called?" and he didn't reply when Graal was suggested. For all we know it could be the two that I offered.

    oh lawds i remember this.
If i remember right. They claimed the guy running the whole thing died in a car crash or something.Anyone who would speak about the project or his death etc. etc. Would be banned.Turns out he wasn't really dead and he just didn't want to continue the project.

I think you're referring to Dampe's OoT2D project, in which he did fake his own death.

The original one started in 2004-ish was by Daniel Barras aka TRM, and I believe (not 100% positive) that those screenshots are from his version, not Dampe's.

Hehe, I was wondering if someone was going to "correct" me on the use of the word "screenshots" there. Screenshots, mockups, whatever they are, they were made by TRM at some point in time.

Can't believe it's been nearly 4 years since that point. Jeez, I've been with ZFGC for way too long.
