Gaming Best way to play Minecraft mulitplayer offline outside the Wii U system?

Hey all, me and my friend are looking for a way to play minecraft muiltplayer offline thats uses just two controllers, not the gamepad. Long story short, the gamepad doesnt work anymore, and we like to play minecraft with just our wii u pro controllers taking turns, but I know this inst a way to play muiltplayer on minecraft for wii u. Is there a better way probably using anothee system or something thatll let us play minecraft offline with two players?

I know switch has lan play but do the other version including the wii u version lack it?

IIRC most other console Minecraft have split screen multiplayer. It's on all current and last gen consoles.

from the way the post made it sound, they made it seem like you need the gamepad for multiplayer on wii u for some reason

Wii u's minecraft is the only version that requires the gamepad only for muiltplayer then? I can get any other version and itll play spiltscreen on one tv?

if you get another version, I highly recommend the switch version, 4 player splitscreen anywhere any time, and it's portable, and will have cross play, essentially being deemed by the community as the definitive console version pretty much
