I'm pretty sure I had .NET Framework 3.5. Windows Update checks for updates everyday and I doubt I've missed .NET 3.5 while updating Windows 7 or downloading any other app that requires it to run. If my memory doesn't fail on me, I had 3.5 Service Pack 1. Anyway, things are working out fine, so I won't touch it until I get any error again. If I do, I'll know it's on my end.

Hi XFlak,
I suggest to use Simple IOS Patcher v1.10 to patch ios36 for those problematic wii's where IOS236 Installer repeatedly fails.
Simple IOS Patcher v1.10 is not the definitive solution since relies on the HW_AHBPROT flag just like IOS236 Installer but from my tests the first can succeed where the latter fails and viceversa.

Remember not all ISP's are for modding. There are a lot connected because of online gaming and/or wii online services (wiiconnect etc..)

ive just used modmii and installed priiloader onto my wii to bypass disk system updates from new games,

modmii worked with no problems at all im just stuck at the minute. priiloader is now in my home brew channel which it wasnt before and ive loaded it and told it to install which it says it has done successfully but the problem is i cant find it anywhere or get into it to change settings and when i put the new games in it is still coming up saying wii system update instead of allowing me to play the game.

any ideas anyone??

ive managed to get into priiloader but still cant seem to sort it.

the way i got in was
entered the homebrew channel
opened multimod manager
clicked manage priiloader
clicked switch to priiloader v0.3 or newer

this then got me into the priiloader white main menu.
i then went down to system menu hacks but it didnt bring up the enable/disable hacks page all i got was a message saying couldnt find any hacks for system menu version v.354

uim a bit of a noob with all this so any help will be appreciated cheers

@regcallum, as said in the ModMii guide, access priiloader by powering off the Wii then powering it back on and holding reset while it's booting. It can't find any hacks for your system menu because priiloader hacks don't exist for 3.3E Wii's (which is SM v354). So either you are not following a ModMii guide or you are not following it properly, because the only options ModMii gives u is to finish on SM v4.1, 4.2 or 4.3 (all of which have hacks for them, unlike 3.3).

I am truly at a loss at what you are doing (or rather what you are not doing), copy and paste the guide u supposedly followed in a spoiler and I can try to figure out what steps you skipped. I can tell you that at very least you did not install a 4.1 (or 4.2 or 4.3) system menu wad, and you didn't read how to access priiloader... so from my perspective, this is a classic case of someone having problems because they aren't following instructions. I'm not trying to be harsh or anything... but common...

Anyways, I suspect when you went to install all the wads, one or some of them didn't install properly, namely the system menu wad (MMM blocked u from installing it before installing the SM IOS), but you were supposed to make sure they all installed properly, and it would have worked the second time u tried to install that system menu since it would have installed the system menu IOS during your first attempt to install all the wads.

Good luck.

yeah i wasnt following the guide as i already had the homebrew channel from my wii been done about 2 years ago and i thought i only needed priiloader.

reading the guide i realise i need an up to date HBC and all sorts.

ive started from scratch and followed the guide and installed the new HBC and backed up the NAND etc and im up to the part where i need to install a patched IOS236

following the instructions i open IOS236 installer and click load and then 1 then a page of white writting appears and freezes the wii.
ive tried this a few times and get the same outcome each time.

ive seen the note about waiting for the wireless indicator to stop flashing and my wii is connected to a wireless system so it cant be that.

it may have to do with your homebrew channel being installed to IOS37...

skip to the install wads step, but only install IOS58.

then repeat the step where you installed the homebrew channel, this time it will install using IOS58.

then try again... if this solves your problem, please let me know.

im now up to the install wads part.

when i go into wad manager it has the following
4.1e_systemmenu_v450.wad
mii-channel-nus-v6.wad
photo-channel-1.1-nus.v3.wad

it installs the bottom two but says 4.1 failed to install.

should my unique wads list be in here or does this seem normal??

you should also have a wad for IOS60, u need to install that before MMM will allow you to install SM4.1.

if you have more questions, please read the error reporting procedure from the bottom of first post and follow it. It would make helping u a lot easier.

Cheers

edit: You should see all the wads from your unique list in the wad folder. When u were using ModMii on your PC, did it download all the files? Or did it have errors? If u had errors, u should have repeated the download until ModMii got everything it said you need. That is the only reason why your unique list would list wads not in your wad folder.

i started the whole thing again and everything went spot on

i can now play new wii games and there is no mention of the wii system update

i then did the disk clean up and now the homebrew channel is blank when i open it, is there anyway to get it back or do i have to go through it all again?

what apps do u want? ModMii's file cleanup feature removes all potentially dangerous apps. If you want apps like emulators, go to download page 2, and download the "just for fun" apps. If you want to keep the apps u used to Mod your wii in the first place, just redownload them from the same page, but you shouldn't need to use those apps again until the next time you use ModMii to update your softmods

If you want to get your usb-loader set up properly, run ModMii's usb-loader setup feature.

@SylverReZ find me ONE community that is free of drama and politics. even video games forums (like this one) have politics section. and for some reason gamers still take consoles/brands wars seriously. even as a kid i never took the console wars bait despite being a nintendo kid.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
one of the reasons i deleted all my social media accounts, reddit account (although i was rarely using it) etc was to get away from this shit.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Vetusomaru, Sadly, not all communities like to play nice. Forums are pretty much dying despite Discord amongst other social media being available.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
i only kept my twitter accounts and only because many of the artists i like share their art only/mostly at twitter.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
lots of discord groups (even the big ones) are also dead for some reason.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Twitter is way too shittier.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
that's why i added some firefox addons to block shit like twitter trends.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Discord, on the other hand, moderation tends to not be very nice in video game communities from what I had experienced.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
nah, discord is also a shithole. discord is good only if you have your own community with your own rules. or if you re lucky to find some groups that arent shitholes.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
as about forums, when i recently revisited some old forums i used to be regular and seeing how immature most members still are i was like "Yeap. Nothing of value has been lost.". Unfortunately it's the good, comfy forums that ended up dead or shut down, especially because of internet centralization.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:

  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
    Let be immature online ffs.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
As long as it's not resetera, anywhere is ok really.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
