Wii is already modified
Wii is Korean but has previously been region changed to 3.XU
Desired firmware is 4.1U

two questions:
1. Do I need to install hackmii again? I already have bootmii.
2. At the first wizard question do I need to answer virgin or not? I opted for non virgin.

1. Unless you are already using that latest versions of bootmii and the homebrew channel you should update them (some apps require HBC v1.07 or above to run properly)

2. If you answer your Wii is a virgin, it is the same as saying your Wii is a virgin and yes to all the extra questions about installing the hackmii installer, cIOSs etc. So basically, since you answered yes to all the other questions, your guide will look the same as if you had answered your wii is a virgin. If you had decided not to download IOS236 Installer, then your guide would be missing that step.

re. your error, sounds like a random windows error, just retry downloading it and it should work fine the second time.

http://bootmii.org is not loading for me either (so yes, it is "down"). Once they fix their problem, you will be able to load http://bootmii.org and ModMii will also be able to download the hackmii installer files again. There are other places you can illegally download the hackmii installer, but modmii will never download the hackmii installer from a different website (in order to comply with Team Twiizers wishes).

edit: I wonder if we may see an update when their webpage is fixed

MetalHead793: no necessary downgrade to 4.1 if u are on 4.2. Its the same advantages. The diference is if you were on 4.1 and updated to 4.2 - that way you would lose HBC and others homebrews. So,,,, no reason to downgrade!

Yes but its not necessary 4.3u does not have the same privileges as 4.2u. Never update via nintendo!

Sorry for what's going to be a very noobish question, but this is my first crack at modding my wii, I have searched for answers with no luck.

As the bootmii.org site is down right now, I grabbed a copy of the hackmii installer from a friend. Where should I put the extracted hackmii files? I just copied them straight to the //apps/HackMii_Installer folder, but I'm getting an error saying it can't load boot.dol.

I'm just wonderin' where I should place which files in your directory structure so it can be opened, some sites say on the root but I want to verify this is the case with ModWii.

I did notice there was a win32 installer but when I run it, it just quickly closes without appearing to change anything.

Any help is appreciated!

u should copy the boot.elf to SD:\apps\hackmii_installer\boot.elf
and also to the root of the SD card (ie. SD:\boot.elf)

Hey XFlak, I have two suggestions for your next version.

First, I think that you should add the Netflix channel to the list of channels that are able to be downloaded in the wizard if possible.

Second, and I'm not sure if I've suggested this or not so forgive me if I have, you should have an option for cheat code downloading like you have for channels. It should be able to download some regions of cheats instead of just all or one like it does now. The settings menu should allow you to pick any region that you want to download to.

Well, I think having it download netflix is almost pointless. Obviously to use netflix, the Wii must be connected to the internet... and if its connected to the net, then the user can just use the shopping channel to DL the netflix channel for free (download is free, netflix service is not). If you can think of a reason why it would be beneficial to have it available for download in wad form, please let me know and I will reconsider adding it.

Im having issues, got a 3.4e virgin, been away for 18 months, nothing on it apart from mii channel photo channel etc and 1600 block presentation channel or something, (plays like a ten minute video) anyway, installed hbc and prepared sd for bootmii ios, its cant install boot 2, hbc uses 38 it says, bootmii will not run, regardless of what sd i use and they all work normally, it does a quick double flash then just keeps flashing every few secs or so, stuff it i thought, ill keep going, next ios236, just wont install, i made active inet connection and followed instructions, dsis everytime, tried about 30 times, i think i read patching ios beofre it dumps........Any ideas ????

install IOS58 using MMM's Wad Manager (any loaded IOS should work since your installing a non-fakesigned IOS58), then reinstall the HBC, this time it will install to IOS58. Now the IOS236 Installer should have a greater chance of success for u

Do u have the "bootmii" folder saved to the root of your SD card when trying to launch bootmii?

yeah, just checked, was getting errors, so i created folder manually, then it showed it worked, but after checking the folder is empty, i need to get hold of the files then from from latest ver if anyone wants to zip them up, i got old version backed up, but its version 0.3 or 0.4
