I agree handy if just modding for a particular user but I do find it faster, nicer and better to use the USB Config Loader bit of software.

Then again if they are doing backups of their own games eg PAL then they will work often on normal Disc loader anyway.

Do you mind people pming you as well?

If you have a ModMii question, I'd prefer u post it in this thread. If you PM me once or twice with a question that belongs in this thread, I'll probably answer it... but any more than that and I'll likely ask u to post it in this thread instead... the only exception is for people who have donated to me (feel free to PM me w/ ModMii Qs all u like) and to my friends (u know who u are, if ur not sure, check if u r on my friends list).

But if u want to PM me about something else, that's fine. Generally my reason for my no PM 'policy' for ModMii Qs is so that I don't get PMs from dozens of people asking for help using ModMii. I'm not always online, and there are plenty of other people who are more than qualified to answer any questions u may have. Besides, I monitor this thread just as often as I check my PMs, so its not like u will get an answer from me any faster.

Ideally, I would like to have the ModMii thread become somewhat like xzxero's thread in the sense that most of the questions are not answered by xzxero, but instead by other knowledgeable gbatempers (like burritoboy, tj_cool, ChokeD, etc.)... essentially making the thread self-sufficient without the thread's owner having to babysit it 24/7

Didnt mean the Ouch bit about the software (was more about your comments of some of the users of it lol) as far as I am concerned any of you guys that take the time to write software to benefit the rest of us and take the time to answer our sometimes daft questions deserve respect. In my job I know how guys like you work damn hard without any money or praise at times.

haha my wife just hit her hand against the wall playing wii tennis i heard WHOMP! um my question is for backups do i just backup the games to iso and then put them on usb flash in iso format or is there some special patching and formatting i need to do?

lol, poor wifey! But please check out ModMii's usb-loader setup feature, it will explain it all, including how to add games to your HDD. But basically I would recommend using WiiBackupManager to transfer your games.

fyi, if your wii has never been modified before, be sure to first use the "ModMii Wizard" before using the "USB-Loader setup" feature.

Why do you need to install all the clean IOS'es ( 9 to 61 ) again for 4.2 ?
If i choose 4.3 then only IOS 58 is needed , 4,2 needs all of them .
Are they so outdated in 4.2 ? Other guides say leave the IOS'es alone if you're on 4.2 or 4.3 .

No, you do not NEED to update the active IOSs to their most recent versions if you are already on 4.2. But there is no harm done by updating them... in fact you need the latest version of IOS56 in order to use the shopping channel. Technically if u only use homebrew, u would never need to update your IOSs. For this reason, ModMii has an option to disable updating active IOSs. If you decide you don't want to update your active IOSs because u are already on 4.2, just disable the appropriate setting on the options page before using ModMii.

Hey XFlak, I have a suggestion for you.

For cheat code downloading, is it possible for you to do like you did with channels in the Wizard and only have some regions selected? For example, I have NTSC and PAL games, so I would want USA and PAL codes, but not JAP or KOR. I would choose USA and PAL in settings, then it would only download those two.

I successfully modmii'd a virgin 4.3E today with Indiana Pwns and seemingly downgraded to 4.1E.

The only comment I have:
-You may insert comment when game can safely be removed from drive

- In section "priiloader" there is no 'Applauncher' as described. It is called "manage Apps".

But hey, this is just nitty gritty.

Just shut it and restart, if you save the files in the same location you're currently using it'll give you the option to merge which skips the files already downloaded so no time wasted.

thanks restarted we'll see what happens. i tried it on another computer it gave some .net framework errors so retrying on this one if it doesnt work i'll remove .net and try on the other again. why do you think it stalled out like that?

random nusd.exe errors, which relies on .NET framework 3.5 (so make sure its installed). Wiininja was about to try to fix it up, but halted work on in when it was announced that the original nus downloader is adding cmd line support. Freezing should only happen maybe 1-5% of the time, and restarting it almost always works (unless u have a .NET framework problem)

if u want to bypass the freeze without having to close modmii and start it up again, open your task manager and end the nusd.exe process, or open a cmd window and type "tskill nusd" (no quotes)

i got it working i think. followed the guide as carefully as possible took forever to finally finish. now ive made an iso and used wii backup manager to transfer it to both sd card and a usb flash drive no luck as of yet with seeing anything happening when running usb loader in the menu. ive tried formatting the usb flash to ntfs and copying the files with the backup manager to the wbfs folder and ive tried formatting the sd card to wbfs and fat32 and using the backup manager to put the file on it but same thing happens when loading the usb loader it doesnt do anything but go back to the menu did i install something wrong or copy the iso wrong? heh okay i downloaded
Cfg_USB_Loader_60.zip and put the files in the right folder not sure where cfg60.dol,cfg60-222.dol,lang60.zip go? and how they work but the iso loaded up from the homebrew menu where the new cfg loader appeared so it worked! i followed the guide though and it didnt mention needing to do this what went wrong? im now playing an iso of wii play er wii sports rather

xp pro sp3 its a computer i only use for gaming never had an error like that before however i dont use that pc often. tried uninstalling .net extended framework or whatever it was caled and still got the same error *shrug* anyhow it worked on my laptop.
