1) backup disks not ideal by today's standards, but can be done. There's the easily reversible method of changing the system menu ios in priiloader's settings to be 249, which will work for most backup disks (some will require you change this to 250 and fewer still to 248 or 251). The way I don't recommend is DarkCorp which overwrites pretty much all stock ios with custom ios and can interfere with other things. Again, using a usbloader is recommended above backup disks. Think of your disk drive like a car, after so many miles no matter what u do it's going to break down sooner or later, much better to use it sparingly just to backup disks then play them back from usb.

2) I think so, not 100% sure about Nintendont though

3) not really an issue. People say that mostly with respect to the wbfs file system (not to be confused with wbfs files which can go on fat32 or ntfs etc)

ModMii 7.0.3 Released!

Changelog:

  • This is likely the last ModMii update that will fully support 32-bit windows or Windows 8 and older. This is a small bug-fix only update so that users unable to use the next BIG update will have something more stable to fall back on.
  • Reverted the server used by NusFileGrabber back to NUS from RC24's redirect to resolve downloads impacting building themes or sneek.
  • Updated sourceforge download links to resolve "Some files required for neek installation are missing" issue.
  • Fixed bug in mym and csm drag and drop theme building operations if the path contained an even number of folders.
  • Fixed bug where Photo-Channel-1.0-NUS-v2 was not being listed in the Install WADs step of guides for Korean region Wiis.
  • Fixed harmless "Get-Disk.vbs not found" bug which only impacted ModMii Skin users. This message was safe to ignore as it only indicated that it was unable to detect the format details of connected drives to include in guides saving users the trouble of having to manually check.
  • Updated broken download links for Bootmii SD files, WiiMC-SS and Customize Mii. Even before this release these issues were being automatically repaired when ModMii checked for updates.
  • Updated download link for USB Loader GX as the oscwii.org package has problems (for now) with its bundled meta.xml. Even before this release this issue was being automatically repaired when ModMii checked for updates.
  • Updated Wiimmfi DNS IP. Even before this release this issue was being automatically repaired when ModMii checked for updates.
  • Stay tuned; I promise the next update will be more exciting!

Edit: I also updated the list of known bugs at the bottom of the first post

On a related note, out of curiosity, is anyone here still running modmii on windows 8 or lower? Or running 32 bit windows?

Thanks for reporting, I've seen this before, it has to do with some instabilities with the cli version of nusd. The next modmii update will be migrating away from nusd in favour of WiiPy, so this error, while infrequent, should never happen again after modmii 8.0.0 is released hopefully in the not too distant future

Edit: in the meantime if u repeat your downloads it should eventually succeed (in case u haven't done so already)

every time I try to install this my antivirus software identifies it as a trojan and immediately deletes it. What do I do?
You can start for reading the documentation of the product:

I recently modded a Wii using Modmii and everything is working (fceumm, nintendont), except I can't use USB Loader gx or WiiFlow.

USB Loader never recognizes the Wii games on the SD card in the folder "wbfs." And I can't change the paths... WiiFlow simply will not load at all anymore. Takes like 3 minutes and then just exits to homebrew or system menu (don't remember which.)

Let's confirm your mods were installed successfully. Please share a Syscheck https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/

If your mods look good, it could be device compatibility of your sd or usb, or how they're formatted or how games are copied over. Did you use wii backup manager to transfer games to ensure they're in the correct location, format and naming convention?

You can either resoftmod your wii using modmii as if it were a virgin, even though it's not. Or you can run syscheck the drag and drop your syscheck.csv onto modmii.exe and it will tell you what to do

How should I proceed safely from here?
Could I directly use file data from another hacked wii SD card ?
Homebrew channel asking update to 1.1.0 , is it safe to update with this condition (using SD card with file data from another hacked wii) ?

I also notice something strange from this wii, when I press turn off from system menu, light indicator still green and fan still running but no video output (wiiconnect already off)
but when I press turn off from homebrew channel light indicator turning red alright, any idea to fix this?

drag and drop your syscheck.csv onto modmii.exe and it will tell you want to do. It's not an issue to use an sd card from another wii, or to use a clean freshly formatted sd. However if you use an sd card from a dif wii you should be careful not to install WADs that you may have had previously saved to it, only install those listed in your custom modmii guide.

You can also use modmii's fileclean up and app update feature, to make sure any existing apps you have on your sd card are up to date.

Regarding your Wii not shutting down to "red", try enabling "Ignore standby" in Priiloader's settings so your Wii turns off completely by default. Presumably, currently when it doesn't shut down to "red" it is shutting down to "yellow" and not staying green like you indicated; but I can understand it's easy to get the yellow mixed up with green for some folks. When turning it off it definitely shouldn't stay green though, it should either turn yellow or red.

I have tried installing ModMii a million times and every single time I try the same error comes up. Sorry if this would be classified as a windows issue and sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place, I just really want a solution to this problem.

Maybe you missed it, but right under the download link it says: "WARNING: A small percentage of antivirus software may flag ModMii as dangerous; these are false-positives.
ModMii does NOT contain any viruses.

If for some reason you can't run the ModMii Installer you can download the latest portable zip.
Unzip it anywhere on your PC then just double-click ModMii.exe or ModMiiSkin.exe."

Well, here's my syscheck. All systems except Wii games seem to be working fine.

I'm attempting to use only an SD card.

I can't install some wads. On MMM it gives me (-2011) on like half of the wads I tried to install. (On a diff SD card, there's a chance it was locked, but did it again on new SD card/adapter. No improvement.) YAWM worked on all the wads but still I haven't been able to play Wii games since 7.0.2. Btw, this is a completely new SD card w/ no older mod stuff on it. I've tried diff SD cards.

Wiiflow won't load. USB Loader GX loads, but won't show any Wii or GC games. Always shows 0.000 GB and switches to channel view. Config USB loader seemed to want a USB HDD. Didn't work.

Other than missing bootmii ios your syscheck looks fine, and bootmii wouldn't have anything to do with your issue. Try a dif SD or formatting it, or a fresh install/update of your apps/loaders

Edit: also installing bootmii as ios (and boot2 if possible) and making a nand backup is highly recommended

I've def done those things. This is like the 4th/5th/6th SD Card / Process I've tried. (2+ year old HackMii, 2 year old ModMii, Modmii 7.0.2, from just after you updooted. Tried an updated HackMii mod. Then just now redid your new 7.0.3 process.

One of the only things that's consistent is that I've used the str82hax every time for years. I've been careful to not use older USB folders or files on the last 3 or so SD card/attempts.

Do you know what % of users use only SD cards? Sometimes I think that could be rare..? Other thing is that I've mostly used micro SD w/ adapters as of late, and I wonder if that could have some part of this..?

Should I be trying to config the various USB loaders b4 I even try to open the program..? Do they come with a non SD compatible base config?

Btw, 4 years ago I could only get USB Loader GX to work. 2 years ago, it switched and Wiiflow only works. 4 Months ago, I dunno if I switched SD cards or what happened, but it went to No Wii games working.

Wii games are always in wbfs folder in ground level of SD card. Always fat32.
