boot1 is the first block on the nand, boot2 is the next 7 blocks. And correct, when you do a bootmii restore it does not touch boot1 or boot2 at all.

First off, I don't condone piracy, u can do whatever you want and I'm not going to judge you, but I don't want to hear things like "the newest game I downloaded" okay? (it makes me feel guilty for helping you) That goes to everyone asking for help, so don't take it personally

I'am so sry. you are very right. Piracy is bad for everyone. I meant to say my backup copys, cause when I like the game I buy it. Yes I do DL but only to try the game.

I'm sry also cause I said it was all my backups and thats not true. My kids tried like 3 or 4 and it happened to be the 4 that are the most played. The disks are alittle scratchy but worked before.
(Might have to reburn them)

Ok with that said, Let me remind you that my wii is chipped, and all I ever did before was put the backup copys in the slot and use the disk channel. I dont think I ever used darkcorp.

Yes I do have Neogamma installed now and used it yesterday. I tried to change the setting in it to see if it helped and all it did was hang,lockup,reboot the wii, on those backups. Others worked.

Oh also a strange thing happened while I was tring things out. On one of the reboots the disk that was in the wii said it needed to update the wii, but I have that setting turned of in Priiloader options. I rebooted and checked the Priiloader to make sure it didnt change, and it didnt. How strange right?

Are there minimum settings I should use in Priiloader?

Thx again for your time.

Make sure u have both the block online updates as well as block disc updates enabled. If it still doesn't work, I suspect its your modchip somehow interfering with the hack.QUOTE(L05t @ Jul 13 2010, 09:00 AM) Are there minimum settings I should use in Priiloader?
RECOMMENDED HACKS: Block Disc Updates, Block Online Updates, Replace Health Screen, Auto-Press A at Health Screen, Disable Deletion of some important channels, Region-Free Everything, remove no copy save file protection, and Move Disc Channel. But of course you can choose w/e hacks you like.

Hmm I'm sure I've done the Block Disc Update & Block Online Updates - but curious about what some of the other 'hacks' do

Some are obvious like Auto-Press {a} at Health screen but looking at all the other Hacks

Well a quick Google found this - so I thought I'll post the link for anyone else to look at, although it doesn't seem to have all the hacks on it such as the 'Recovery mode' ones (whatever THOSE actually do)

By the time I used 4.1u I noticed that the hacks for 4.1u didn't include block online updates and everyone always told me that I was blind if I couldn't see it. By watching the above link it just confirm what I always said.

The hack does exist for 4.1U Wii's (SM version 449) - See code below for proof. Wiibrew apparently doesn't have their priiloader hacks up to date. To read up on and download a more complete hacks.ini, read THIS THREAD.

Code:
[Block Disc Updates]
version=449
offset=0x8137EEA8,0x8137EEAC,0x8137EE50,0x8137EE54
value=0x60000000,0x60000000,0x60000000,0x60000000
[Block Online Updates]
version=449
offset=0x8168EE50
value=0x6E756C6C

edit: congrats Burton on your baby's 1st birthday!

Hello, small bug found. It doesn't open the custom guide correctly. It still creates it, but notepad says that the file cannot be found.

Options chosen:
W, Y, 4.2, U, 4.2, N, Y, Y, [Enter*], [Y or G].

* = I did at one point change settings.bat from a specific directory to "%userprofile%\Desktop\CONTENTS_TO_SD" so it can be used on any computer without having to change the save location setting.

The guide that it generates but fails to open is below:
NUS Auto Downloader 4.1.5 Custom Guide
Generated on Tue 07/13/2010 - 13:27:12.62
Check for updates at tinyurl.com/nusauto

This Guide was generated using the following parameters:

* Wii is currently a virgin (un-modified)
* Current firmware is 4.2u (guide is the same for U/E/J, although files may differ)
* Desired firmware is 4.2u

* Download Extra Brick Protection

This software is not for sale. If you paid for this software or a "bundle" you have been scammed.

THIS PACKAGE COMES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY, NEITHER STATED NOR IMPLIED.
NO ONE BUT YOURSELF IS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THIS MAY CAUSE TO YOUR NINTENDO WII CONSOLE!
USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

*This guide does NOT require a Wifi connection on your Wii.
*An SD card formatted to FAT(32) required (Best results are with non-SDHC cards, SDHC will only work on 4.0 or above).
*If you get errors during any of the steps reformat your SD card as FAT or FAT32
*Turn off WiiConnect24 and take out all gamecube memory cards/controllers when modding the Wii (unless instructed otherwise).
*If your Wii ever freezes, hold the power button on the Wii for 5 seconds to power it off then try again.
*Don’t ever accept a new Nintendo update without first googling to see if it’s safe. The last update (to 4.3) was released in late June 2010 and is NOT safe to accept. If you accept an official Nintendo update after modding the Wii, you may lose some or all of your modifications.
*Updates via homebrew or homebrew apps are safe to accept
*Never uninstall a system menu or IOS
*Do not install untested wads/themes without Bootmii or Priiloader installed.
*This custom guide is great start, but Wii modding is always evolving. Check for updates online, and remember, google is your friend.
*If you have questions, a more detailed guide can be found here: http://www.completesoftmodguide.tk

1) INSTALLING THE HOMEBREW CHANNEL (HBC), BOOTMII AND DVDX

Run BannerBomb v2 by selecting the SD Card Button on the main system menu screen and choosing yes to load boot.dol/elf
Note: If it doesn't work for you, visit http://bannerbomb.qoid.us/ for more variations of either version of bannerbomb.
This runs the Hackmii Installer which you should now use to install the Homebrew Channel (HBC), DVDX [optional], and Bootmii as IOS and boot2 if possible.

Note: If you get a 'no vulnerable IOS' error message, run NUS Auto Downloader again and this time select the 'Hackmii Solutions' option instead of 'Download Wizard' and follow the new instructions before continuing this guide.

After you exit the hackmii installer, you will be taken to the HBC.
Hit the home button. In the top right corner you will see the IOS used by the HBC.

If the HBC is using an IOS other than IOS61 or your homebrew channel is upside-down, make a note of it as it applies later in the guide (you will have to reinstall the HBC).

If it is using IOS61 and your HBC is not upside-down, you can skip the Reinstall The Homebrew Channel step when you get to it.

2) MAKING A NAND BACKUP

Restart your Wii, if Bootmii was installed as boot2, then it will show up as soon as the Wii is turned on.
If Bootmii was only installed as an IOS, then it must be loaded by pressing home in the HBC and clicking Launch Bootmii.
Press the power button on the wii 3 times to get to the last option, then press the reset button. [You can also navigate with a Gamecube controller]

Press reset to choose the first option, then follow the directions on the screen to make your NAND backup. [Bad blocks are no problem.]

Backup the Bootmii folder, NAND.bin, and keys.bin elsewhere and erase from the sd card (or rename it). You'll need these in case of emergencies, so don't lose them.
Head back to The Homebrew Channel.

3) RESTORING THE TRUCHA BUG

Start the Homebrew Channel and use it to load Multi-Mod Manager (MMM).
In MMM, Go down to select "Install & Patch IOS36" and choose express mode.

4) INSTALL WADS

In Multi-Manager Mod's main menu, Go down to select "WAD Manager".

Install the following WADs in the WAD folder (this list of WADs is unique to how you answered the Wizard's questions).

Be careful not to install any additional wads that may have been previously saved in this folder (they may be safe, but I cannot say for sure).

Hold + for 2 seconds to select all wads in the folder. Then Press A twice to install them all.
After the installation finishes read the install report to make sure all the files installed properly.

You're unique list of wads to install are as follows:

* IOS11v257(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP])
* IOS20v257(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP])
* IOS30v2817(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP])
* IOS50v5121(IOS50v4889[FS-ES-NP])
* IOS60v6401(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP])
* IOS70v6913(IOS70v6687[FS-ES-NP])
* cIOS202[57]-v5
* cIOS223[37-38]-v4
* cIOS222[38]-v5
* cIOS224[57]-v5
* cIOS249[57]-v19
* cIOS250[37]-v19
* cMIOS-MPv0.2-v4
* IOS61v5661

If any failed, make a note of which ones and retry installing them.

Note: Whenever you install a new System Menu, Priiloader is uninstalled. So be sure to reinstall it afterwards (especially if you do not have bootmii as boot2)

5) REINSTALL THE HOMEBREW CHANNEL (if applicable)

Earlier you should have checked what IOS is used by the HBC. If the IOS used by your Homebrew Channel is IOS61 and your HBC is not upside-down, you can skip this step.

If the HBC is using an IOS other than IOS61 or your homebrew channel is upside-down, you should reinstall the HBC.

In MMM's main menu, select 'App Manager' and then select the HackMii_Installer.
Use the Hackmii Installer to fix/re-install the HBC. Once you've successfully reinstalled the HBC, you can move onto the next step of the guide.

If you already exited MMM, you can load the HackMii_Installer from the Homebrew Channel.

If the HBC is failing to load any apps (just blackscreens), instead launch the HackMii Installer via bannerbomb.
Run BannerBomb v2 by selecting the SD Card Button on the main system menu screen and choosing yes to load boot.dol/elf
Note: If it doesn't work for you, visit http://bannerbomb.qoid.us/ for more variations of either version of bannerbomb.

This will the launch HackMii Installer, use it to reinstall your Homebrew Channel.

6) INSTALL PRIILOADER

Run the Priiloader installer from the HBC. On the main menu screen, press + to install Priiloader.
(if the installation fails, try holding B and press + to install Priiloader using IOS249)
It should now reboot in the Priiloader menu. If it doesn't, power off the wii,
then power it back on and hold reset while it's booting until you see it.

The priiloader menu is white by default, you can change it to black in the settings if you prefer.
If you want, you can install some system menu hacks now (by going to System Menu hacks).

One of the special functions of Priiloader is that it can autoboot any file instead of the system menu. Some apps (like crazyIntro) can't be used without it.
For details on how to do so, visit http://www.completesoftmodguide.tk/system-hacks/priiloader

7) AFTER MODDING

Now at this point your almost done.
Now you should be downloading the latest homebrew applications and setting them up on your SD Card (or FAT32 USB Hard Drive) so they can be launched via the HBC.

For downloading applications, you should:
* Download Homebrew Browser to get many popular apps, but this is an online only application (http://www.completesoftmodguide.tk/how-to-use/hbb)
* For those without internet, check out this list of Homebrew applications (wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_all_homebrew).
Another great resource is webrewwii.blogspot.com

After getting whatever apps you want, you should get a boot.dol file and possibly a icon.png and meta.xml.
For HBC to read your SD/USB correctly, your card must be structured SD:/apps/application name/boot.dol
If you have a *.dol not named boot.dol, rename it boot.dol, otherwise it will not be recognized by the HBC.
(optional: the icon.png and meta.xml should be saved in the same place as the boot.dol)

For playing your backups off a USB hard drive, run the USB-Loader Setup options from NUS Auto Downloader's Main Menu

If I change the Drive to:
Code:
"%userprofile%\Desktop\CONTENTS_TO_SD"
(including the quotes!) I get the same error you decribe

If I change it to
Code:
%userprofile%\Desktop\CONTENTS_TO_SD
(without quotes!) I don't get an error

In either case, is it creating a folder called %userprofile% (literally, that's what its called) as opposed to saving it on the desktop. Is this also what you are getting?

The reason why this is happening, is because you are adding a variable (%userprofile%) within another variable (%DRIVE%), so when the app calls for the drive letter, the userprofile variable gets read as text and not another variable within the variable. I could probably add some way to get around this, but it's gonna be a pain in the butt without much benefit

The simple solution, select a drive letter/folder name that doesn't include variables in it (or just restore to the default COPY_TO_SD)

edit: so I wouldn't call this a 'bug', just cuz I never intended people to use those kinds of variables when choosing a drive letter.

It's not creating a folder called %userprofile%. It reads it correctly. It saves to the desktop in a folder called CONTENTS_TO_SD. And I used quotes because I think there might be problems for usernames with spaces if quotes aren't used. I'll test that for you soon. But I understand. Thanks.

u are doing something wrong gundam, either your internet connection is down, or your firewall is blocking the app, or u are behind a proxy server, or u don't have .NET framework 3.5 installed

your PC isn't special, it works just like everyone else's, if u can't get it to work, u missed something

also, plz don't request some1 send u files illegally, this program, and this thread, is 100% legal. If u want someone to send u files illegally, try the other stickied wii hacking thread.

edit: I guess its also possible that your Aussy ISP is blocking certain sites... but I doubt it, I would have heard about it by now... not to mention that would also mean your Wii could not access Ninty servers to do an official updates

@AetherMaster, what OS u using? I tested on WindowsXP and it did not create a folder on the desktop. Try leaving out the quotes and it may work for u.

the source of copyrighted nintendo files must be nintendo, if it is gotten from anyone/anywhere else, it is illegal. The same goes for the hackmii installer. If you get it from ANYWHERE other than the bootmii website, it was shared illegally.

My program actually downloads files it from nintendo servers and the bootmii website, making it legal.

Anyways, I wish u luck.

I'm using Windows 7. I can confirm that it works without quotes on Win7 and Vista, even with a username with a space, but I get the same non-saving "bug" on XP.

I softmodded two 4.2e Wiis before with this guide (short description):

QUOTE said:

cIOS38rev14

installed Priiloader

installed Hermes cios, usb loaders, emulators...

Now I wanted to try offline softmodding with NUS Auto Downloader 4.1.5 on a virgin 4.2e Wii.

Works good enough for me! I modified the example on Drive Selection page accordingly! Thx for the info!!

Works fine on a Windows 7 OS, and I had a 4.2U Wii. You just need to toy around a bit. It was much easier than I thought. Many thanks to XFlak for the program, though it does look a bit sketchy. (My dad was watching and he almost made me shut the program off...he hates command prompt apps)
