Hacking best way to diagnose mt wii's drive

How can I know whats broken without opening it?
I have yet to order anything and do not have any triwings available, I plan to find a set that includes them when I buy a replacement part.
heres the drives status
-recognizes disk in drive ,but cant read it(It sees it in disk channel but when it tries to read it it gives me an error)
-if any disk is in drive I get a huge error while in system menu
-It checks for a disk when turned on(the usual noise from the motor as if it was ejecting or accepting a disk)

edit:
when loaded from gecko os it makes a small noise like a brrrrrrr,it loads and on the wii sports disk I even heard the beep and the saftey screen but then the drive gave up and it gave the error screen.

Is the house where the Wii usually is dusty or do the people smoke?

It might just be that the lens is dirty, since it sounds like the motor and eject mechanisms are working fine.

Try buying and using the official Nintendo lens cleaning kit before you rip the thing apart.

and no its a very clean place.
but do you think the lens broke?

sorry for doubleposting
I just tried to load from geck os and it gave me a few brrrrrrr noises and loaded wii sports for like 10 seconds(it showed saftey screen and did that ding)
Now if only I knew what that meant
can anybody please tell me what the possible scenarios could be?
