Best Way To Backup GB/GBC Save Files?

I was looking to get the Smartboy Cart, but I'm not sure if this just lets you play GB/GBC roms, or if it lets you backup the saves for retail carts as well?

If not that, what's the best item I can still purchase today that lets me backup and restore save files from my PC. Thanks!

Smartboy + Mega Memory card.

Save your game to mega memory then download it to smartboy then connect smartboy to PC

I know it works with Smart Card but not completely sure if it will work with Smartboy though, reason it works with Smart Card because Smart Card uses the same saving system as genuine carts.
