best way to back up gbc cart saves?

found a couple of my old cartridges from when i was a kid, and started playing on them. now i want to back up the sav files so i can use them when gen 2 virtual console comes out to transfer to current gen games. what are the current and most accessible/cheapest ways to go about getting a usable .sav file from a gameboy color cartridge nowadays??
