Personally the 1st thing that comes to mind is Summon Night Tears Crown, but its japanese...I'm waiting for a translation. I like the gameplay and the story is pretty interesting to me (well at least up to the point I got to)

I can't really think of any good english turned-based rpg so maybe someone can help you better than me.

Dragon Quest V
Dragon Quest IX
Final Fantasy IV
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor

Those are all the turn based ones with good stories I can think of.

Wait for Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. It'll probably be good and have a good story, as it's made by Camelot and judging by how good the first two games were, this one's going to be epic.

Wow... the best... I think every one would agree there are so many good ones its hard to narrow it down, more info would be nice such as what ones you have played so people know what not to list.

A few good ones are

Chrono Trigger
Dragon quest monster, V, IX, Monster
Final Fantasy IV
Nostalgia

Id like to say Pokemon but its story has always been kinda meh, still a great game though. Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier was good. Though might not be the type of turn base you want....

All in all I say go with Chrono trigger.. that game is old but still holding its own even now, And the Ds one has even more stuff for you to do as well.

If you've played that than next id say probably Nostalgia its like final fantasy but you get to actually fight with your air ship

If you've played That I suggest One of the dragon quests you can't really go wrong picking one, though IV is kinda meh.

Those are just my top choices there are many more to choose from...

My answer undoubtedly is DQV. I think is a heartwarming game.

Follow by: FF4, Chrono Trigger, Super Robot Taisen Endless Frontier and Shin Megami: Tensei Strange Journey. Not in that order, but they're such good games.

If you haven't already played it, get Devil Survivor as well!
The mix of strategy and standard RPG gameplay is quite refreshing.
