I have been playing hours and hours what I consider to be the best game on PS4 right now, Pinball Arcade. The game is available on other platforms but it has been upgraded for 1080p on the PS4. It is a faithful recreation of many classic pinball machines, with all details from lights, table designs and even original sounds being accounted for.

My only quibble is that the audio sometimes sounds low quality, but my email to support staff was answered quickly: the ps4 is playing the wrong (lower quality) sound files and this will be fixed soon in a patch.

The game is downloadable for free from psn store. You can demo tables up to a score limit and purchase tables in packs at various prices.

I recommend starting/demoing with the masterful table Medieval Madness to get a taste of the game. This table my family has been playing nonstop since I bought it.

Truly a delight for pinball fans!

Had a look (read watched the video at the end) and it looked OK. Personally I have never really got into virtual pinball at all, occasionally do not mind the real thing but there has never really been a machine anywhere I have spent time. If I have to have a pinball game though I much prefer the "could only exist as a game" type tables.

Yeah I have always been a snob about virtual pinball, until I tried this one. They just did such a good job with the tables IMO it gets close to recreating the actual experience of playing a table. And it looks great on our tv. I would recommend giving the demo a go if you like pinball (medieval madness is a good bet if you don't have a favorite on there)

Some of my favorites aren't here either, but they have season two tables lined up and are planning a season three after that, so there is hope! I just hope they maintain their quality standards for all seasons.

You can tell they are very passionate about pinball, including extras like the original flyers used to advertise the tables, really helpful documentation about the features and modes of each table, etc. Also table goals for each table that give trophies and unlock the ultimate wizard goals for more trophies an harder challenge.

Are you Scott from Rev3 Games? :P I first heard about this game through that guy. I got mad props to the devs of the game for their dedication :o

Nope, not me. I think the devs did such a great job anyone who likes pinball can appreciate the work they put into it.
It'd be awesome if a company could develope a bluetooth pinball realistic controller that has the buttons on the side and knobs and such. I'm sure it'd be easy to pull off.

Something sorta like this: http://www.amazon.com/Duo-Games-04-0019ML-Pinball-iPad/dp/B008M0NDRM
Yeah might be cool if it was designed well...I don't mind the ps4 controller but my wife dislikes it. Sometimes the flipper keys stick which is annoying.

We were out last weekend and found a funhouse table. Played a few rounds and my wife actually said she prefers the ps version.

least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling

They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great

so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more

    Tandem even

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus

Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term
