Currently I'm only in possesion of a 3DS XL, but this Nintendo DS Handheld doesn't seem to handle the old Nintendo DS games that good.
The quality on the Nintendo 3DS is not as good as the game displays on a Nintendo DS Lite, especially with games like Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.
I know the Nintendo DS Lite would be a good reccomendation as it also plays GBA Games whereas the next generation of Nintendo DS handhelds lost that capability.
I'm unsure wether the Nintendo DSi has the same quality of the Nintendo DS Lite or the bad quality as seen on a Nintendo 3DS, or which is better compared by their battery life, or what about the button feeling? DPad? Better touchscreen recognization?, better shock resistant when accidentally dropped.

Please help me and others out with playing the good old NDS Games GBATemp, Thank you in advance.

I play my NDS games on a DSIxl and it's great.

If you want to play DS games only, get a DSi XL. If you want to play GBA games and DS games, get a Lite.
I was aware of the GBA compatibility, I was also wondering about the other information such as better battery lifetime, old game quality, touchscreen between the DS Lite and DSi XL.

Thank you for the replies.

He only wants to play OG DS games.
yeah, same principle applies, you can actually get a sealed 2DS for less than a DSlite in a good state, plus you can use the circle pad to make some games a lot more playable, all 3DS hardware plays DS games, but the XL models make DS games look really bad unless you set them to pixel perfect mode, even then you might as well get a DSi XL

Oh, so if I understand you guys right, it is only the XL modes that make the original games blurish and pixelish?

pretty much, smaller 3DS and 2DS models look a little but blurrier, but if you hold down start at boot you can use pixel perfect mode, which due to the lower PPI of the small 3DS systems it makes games look sharper than an actual DS, just make sure to get a model with an IPS screen, which is the same type of screen every OG DS has, some 3DS systems may come with TN screens that look a little worse, but not by much
