I banner bricked my Wii and wanted to know what the best and easiest to install modchip is that will give me a good shot at fixing this.

I can get to the health and safety screen, but after that it goes to black.

I need something that will enable autoboot so that I can autoboot the homebrew channel or wadder and delete the offending wad.

I had preloader installed, but I guess wankiko's latest cios disabled it because when I hold down reset and power on my Wii nothing happens. I feel like an idiot for messing this up. Any help would be very much appreciated.

the wasabi dx has autoboot and is easy to install with a clip I believe (no soldering required) it is worth noting though that as far as im aware no chip ships with the autoboot feature enabled so you will need to put it into a working wii load the config disc enable autoboot then put it into your wii

Thanks. That does seem easy to install. If it is true that none of the chips ship with autoboot enabled, could I temporarily put it on a friend's Wii, enable autoboot, and then put it on my bricked wii?

yeah you can put it into a friends wii and enable it then put it into yours, you might even be able to ask whoever you buy it from to enable it for you!

I found a place that sold the Wasabi DX with autoboot already enabled. Using that and the Universal Unbrick disc v4 I was able to delete the messed up wad and get my Wii running again. Hooray!

great news. I didn't have a clue that a modchip could fix a banner brick!

Well, its all about the ability to run the DVD-R disc as autoboot. This is how the chip helps to fix a banner brick.
