Final Fantasy 3 is the best on the DS. 4 is a joke. 3 has the best gameplay and isn't a game that's been remade a thousand times already.

It depends on what you're looking.

For a classic FF RPG, Final Fantasy IV.
For a minigame collection, FF Fables: Chocobo Tales.
For an Action-RPG, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: The Ring of Fates.
For a Strategy RPG, Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift.

They're all really good in their respective fields.

Edit: Totally forgot about FFXII Ravenant Wings... good RTS, I guess.

It's a close tie between FF Tactics Adv 2 and FF Crystal Chronicles:Ring of Fates. The depth and unlockables of Tactics is awesome. But the artistic design and incredible multiplay options are superb on RoF. So, if you are more into turn-based strategy games (like Advance Wars and Disgaea) get Tactics Adv. If you are more into the standard adventure, rpg games (like Zelda and Soma Bringer), and especially if you like playing with friends, it's FFCC:Rof all the way.

P.S. Coming in at third place would be FFXII:Revenant Wings, if you are into real-time strategy games (like Robocalypse, Summon Night, etc.)

Keep forgetting about that game. It is really good but not really a FF game for me.

Uhm, all (well all good & modern cards anyway) flashcards work properly with wi-fi and "stuff".
But sure, if you want to constribute to the industry, go for it

Haha well, not really

some games need arm7 fixes and that kills wi-fi and uhm... stuff xP and since both my dstt is fake *headdesk* the latest software has a bricker.

Ok then, you didn't say your DSTT:s were fakes

but i think there's a fake-bricker removal tool though IIRC, so you should be able to play those problem games without a problem (wasn't the latest firmware before the bricking "feature" compatible with all the ARM7 protected games though..? fairly certain of it.)
Also, if you're worried about the "moogle of death"-screen it's fixed in one of the updates after the game was dumped, also there's an AR code that disables it.

I suggest Final Fantasy III. Better gameplay than IV. I loved FFIV because the characters have preset abilities. With the Decant System, anyone can do anything, and the game quite loses it's strategic side in my opinion.

EDIT: fixed some errors.

Well there is
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Ring of Fate
Final Fantasy Tactics A2
Final Fantasy Renevant Wings

I'd Suggest either FF3 or FF4.
