Well, I say DSi, but they're a bit more expensive. DSLite is cheaper used, and cheaper new, and it plays GBA games...but really...if you want to play a GBA game...play it on the GBA/SP/Micro... As for deals, there WERE a few DSi deals going on during the holidays...but..not anymore. No one really gives deals on video game systems right now.

I would personally say hold off buying one until around March 5th, as this is the date that the new DS XL comes out, and sure that your other half would prefer a DS with the screens almost twice the size of the original. I have a DS Lite, but will be buying this for sure

DSI has more horsepower than a DS Lite

The DS Lite Cpu is 66MHZ , while the DSI Cpu is clocked at 133MHZ .
The DSI Has 15MB of ram , while the ds lite has 8-4 mb of ram

A NDS Game won't look better on the DSI because its made for the DS . But a game special for the DSI will look much better . A NDS game has a limit from 256MB , a DSI game could easy be 512MB .

So don't buy a DS Lite hehe .
I would get an DSI , the dsi LL has some bigger screens and bigger pixels so game wil look much more blocy than on an DSI . Also the DSI is cheaper than a DSI LL . And the DSI LL looks hard to put him in a pocket

Funny enough I've recently been looking for a replacement DSLite or DSPhat (just so that I could use a Slot 2 device to try & fix one of my flash carts) but was very surprized about the prices

In the UK
High Street Shop:
DSi (New): ~ £139.99
DSi (Pre-owned): ~ £129.99
DSLite (New): ~ £99.99
DSLite (Pre-owed): £69.99
DSPhat (Pre-owed): £58 (No Box)

E-Bay (@ end of bidding)
DSlite (Used/Working): Cheapest I've seen it go for is £65.37 (with Charger)
DSPhat (Used/Working): Cheapest I've seen it go for is £47.74 (no Charger included)
(Both NOT including P&P)

I would've expected a bigger difference in prices - especially between a DSPhat & DSLite

I would say DSi but if you don't care for size (since it's your GF it can go in a purse or something) get the DSi XL

Will any games be released exclusive for DSi and use the real power of it?

The DSi LL IS NOT MEANT TO YOU (YES, IM TALKING AT YOU, The reader)

The DSi LL is for professional people like me who uses dictionary apps everyday. The DSi LL has colors not ordinary to gamers.

But the longer battery life is A MUST for gamers but in general, IT'S NOT MEANT FOR YOU

I would suggest the DSi LL if:

1) she can play longer than expected
2) she has a good strong hands to outstand the 315g of weight
3) willing to view large things

The DSi LL's screen WILL NOT BLUR the DS games AFAIK

Yes the DSi LL's screen does blur them a little (its being blown up, of course it does! You probably get a little blur on the DSi as well)

Who looked at the DS and decided it needed bigger screens that are the exact same resolution as before....stupid people...

Two have been.
System Flaw in the US and Monster Finder in Japan.

For a woman/girl, the DSi would be the best choice.
They were selling them here for around 115 for a while, but now they're back up to 169 most places (Euro).
I got mine from target in the us, cost 120 euro and the points are cheaper in America with the exchange rate.
