Linux is the best anti virus, of course.
but, if you insist on sticking with wind'ohs then avast is probably the second best
Tried a Linux but I found it too complicated (maybe because I got used to the "feel" of Windows so I ditched it.
I will get a Macbook soon because a lot of people who have Macs in college have convinced me that it is the best. When I get it, I will install Linux on the laptop I'm using right now.
what linux? ubuntu is really easy. as you said, it could just be you didn't give it enough time, how long did it take you to learn to use windows?
as for Macs, they have virii too, not as many, but they tend to be rootkits that are far worse than your average virus
