    Beatpad Homepage

My buddy has made a simple but very fun & effective sampler player for the DS. It has 4 pads on the touch screen that you can load up samples into and play, you can select different banks on the D pad and if you hold the L trigger it turns the screen into a theremin! Also has a very basic sequencer, but all works a treat! It's going to be great for live sample playing in my shows!

So much fun!! It's a very early pre-alpha version, and he's starting to develop it more. Comes with a SC patched version.

Anyway, check it out & drop him a line with feedback & ideas.

hey, just found this. yo 666!

the next release will probably be the official beta - i'm adding load/save support + a bunch of other stuff. and prettier graphics. right now it's solid as a rock though, just needs some more features.

here's an example file i just put together if you want to hear what it's capable of right now though: http://www.remaincalm.org/nds/beatpad%20-%20example.mp3

    cheers!

I've tried it too, works great! I'm trying my own samples asap. Some things I'd like to see:
    - Other graphics: Looks a bit silly when I'm using this in a live gig and I'm pressing some hello kitties to trigger drums [IMG] If you can't make them I'm willing to try something!
    - DSMI/DSMidiWiFi support: send a MIDI clock signal to sync it with apps like Ableton.
    - Better (layout of the) sequencer: not only 4 beats to fill with drums but 16 if you want [IMG] and with better layout I mean: bigger icons for the following point:
    - Switch screens: add drums to the sequencer with the stylus
    - Record mode: that you can enable a metronome that plays with the tempo of the sequencer and that you can tap the drums which will display in the sequencer when record is on.

Only ideas but it would be way cooler than it is already [IMG]

    Keep up the good work!

    edit:
heeey the screenshot on the homepage is changed, where's the download [IMG] can't wait for the next version [IMG]

this is what the unreleased version looks like now:

dsmidi input support has been added - just drum input on the notes at this point

load/save support for patterns has been added

you can select totally different sample sets now

swing has been added (and rocks!)

you can play and edit different patterns at the same time

um... loads more stuff. will release next week sometime. still rock solid as well.

Damn it all to hell!!! [IMG]

I would have loved to try this! Looks great!

Whats the sequencer like? A fruity loops-style sequencer would rock!

    (pic updated)

right now the sequencer is pretty primitive - 4 patterns, each pattern loops until you manually set the next one. but you can edit a different pattern to what is playing, and you can switch between patterns in realtime (and the play position doesn't get reset). you can also switch sample sets in realtime as well and it doesn't interrupt the playback. so you can build some really complex, evolving stuff with it if you create your patterns and sample sets properly.

there's 3 different roms in the zip - the .nds is pre-patched for r4ds, there's also a .sc.nds and another one that probably work on sc (i haven't tested those though... might do that now)

Edit: yep - the .sc.nds file works good on my supercard CF
