Who here played BBS games and who here is younger and thinking wtf is a BBS.

For those that played, what were your favorites?

I used to play Legend of the Red Dragon every day, and sometimes Trade Wars

Pretty much just played LORD here. I played Trade Wars very little, though.

For those that asked BBS is what we used to go online in the pre-internet days.
    (Bulletin Board System)

In some ways I still miss those days. It was generally all dialup connections and normally local.
I remember when I upgraded from my 2400 baud modem to 56k woooo lightning fast!

I never got on the BBS but I know a guy here who used to play LORD, and would love to play again, if you know of anything similar.

I dunno there were chat rooms and probably limited forums, some games, and very very limited downloads. (usually a hundred or two megs, certainly not GB like even most small sites are capable of hosting these days. I guess its not really the space that was the problem as much as the speed it would take to DL files.

I used to run a pretty popular BBS in Dallas called "Maximum Meltdown."

I had all the door games (BBS) on there you could think of!

I admit I actually really liked Legend of the Red Dragon 2!
But my favorite was one called "Crosswinds" for the MajorBBS system.

It was basically just a MUD but it was so fun!

People still play LORD over websites like:

    here: http://lord.nuklear.org/
    here: http://lotgd.net/home.php?

you do realise, BBS is basically a synonym for forum.... right?

after all, BBS just stands for bulletin board system

    so GBAtemp is a BBS
