Hi, I just went to install the bbci player via the wii channel but I was prompted to update my system before I could do it. Is there any other way of installing the bbci player without doing this, i.e via thye Homebrew Channel??

Do you have priiloader? If so, block all updates from there.

Hold reset down to access Priiloader and then go to System menu hacks and enable "block disk updates".

Get Dop-Shop and use it to update the Shop channel.

Do you have the latest version of the shop channel? I'm confused...where did you say you saw the BBC I player to download?

Read this post HERE. I am from Australia and once downloaded the I player but couldnt use it because it detects if your IP address is from outside the UK.

if i may say these system menu hacks don't work all the time. er. with personal exp (yes the hacks are of the correct system menu and region) the wii crashes when theres an update.

Sorry that was my mistake. Priiloader disk update blocker works for games with disk updates and online update blocker stops the wii from updating system menu's. I still don't exactly understand the OP question but if he needs to update the shop channel he can just use WiiScu...just don't go looking for it at Wiibrew..lol.

heh i'm lazy all my discs are on a 1TB external and with every game i buy it gets dumpted onto that drive no need to update unless it's a cios.
