Use the batteries up to about 30 percent minimum and back up to 100 percent. It's good to always go back to 100 percent and this is obvious with the switch in the dock because that is the default way of using it. If you don't keep the switch docked at least charge it to 100 percent once you've hit about 30 percent. I have 5 year old devices that still hold charge like new using this method.

The problem is that just that you can't tell the switch to stop charging at e.g. 80%, because it of course wouldn't be sensible to pull the switch of the plug when it reaches 80%, because then it would discharge, which would also be bad.
