Hacking Backing up hard copies of games you own?

Use CleanRip. All you need is the Homebrew Channel or some kind of homebrew loader, no cIOS required.

Anyway, check if you have homebrew channel 1.0.8 running on IOS58. Otherwise dumping speeds to USB devices will be slow.

In wiiflow go to settings and do install. make sure your usb hard drive is in fat32 filesystem

just download the latest ios58 with modmii or nusd and install with wad manager. if you already have the newest ios58 it won't hurt to reinstall. then use cleanrip and dump away.

Wait, if you're wanting to rip your originals onto an HDD for backup, just load up a USB loader (I recommend Wiiflow and/or Configruable USB Loader), and there will be an option to install it to HDD, which will then rip the game that's in the disc drive into your HDD for backup. It'll save you the process of having to use another HBC program to rip it, and then going to a USB loader to play it.

yup. you can use gx to rip it to a wbfs formatted hdd. i'm not sure about ripping to fat 32 with gx. i still use wbfs so i haven't tried to rip to fat 32. riping to wbfs will only give you the game partition. if you want a full 1:1 copy use cleanrip. if you just want to load up your hdd and don;t care about a clean dump go with gx.

Absolutely. I'm not sure about the FAT32 support about USB Loader GX, but it's a stable loader, and will rip any game to a WBFS-formatted HDD for sure. I started out with USB Loader GX and used it until I discovered Configurable USB Loader, and then WiiFlow. The latter have large amounts of features and customisability, but USB Loader GX is an exceptional loader at getting the job done.

in cfg loader, its as easy as pressing the + button...i havent used gx in a while, but i assume its a remarkably similar process.

I'm using the GX loader as well and yes it is very easy to rip games.

put your game disk in
go to usb loader gx
press the special button located somewhere down(don't exactly remember where)

PROFIT!

and that's it!
it takes some time though

depends on the size of the game.

a full 4 gb game would take around 30-35 min
while a 1gb game would take around 10 min.

How can you tell how big games are?

it says so right before you try to copy them to the HD so you can calculate how much time it's going to take.
