Interesting... They chose to use different processors and screens.

Not sure if that eases building in decent numbers, though...

This handheld space is only as interesting as the advancements in CPU/APU, which isnt moving fast enough for my liking.
Ultimately its hard for me to care about new devices when its only going to perform as well as something that came out prior with the same chip.
Its basically like seeing Anbernic coming out with their 4th handheld of the year that houses the same internals but in a different form factor.

Why am I hearing a bunch of AYANEO on this site? They're making a bunch of revisions to what's essentially the Steam Deck.

Ayaneo is the most corrupt company I've ever seen. They continue to make things via crowdfunding and can't seem to operate like a normal company would. They are complete garbage. If ur going to buy one of these knocks go with Abernic. At least they can operate like a normal company and not be super shady like Ayaneo is.

Can we take two seconds to actually use the existing hardware before pooping something else out please?

It's already bad enough tons of people literally waste their hardware with yearly (or less time than that) upgrades for gains that really can't be justified. Most people don't even know the full capabilities of their current hardware, hell you can't even put much faith in most who claim to be an enthusiast to fully explore those territories because they do tests that aren't realistic to potential real world use, or the capabilities of the real world applications that are utilized daily, let alone does hardly anyone understand the trade off between hardware and software, and how sub-optimal coded software can definitely make hardware look worse than what it really is. Benchmarking software is not an end all be all for hardware, in fact, they aren't above the idea of being sub-optimal in their own ways, and they definitely don't serve as a proper indicator of real world use, because real world use wildly varies. We live in a timeline where people really think power means everything, marketing exploits that limited mindset.

This is wasteful on tons of resources, we should be spending more time developing advancements in this technology for long term capabilities, and making the most out of it, rather than being primitive and wasting stuff for gains that realistically we probably already have if we just handle things correctly. This all comes off pretty broad and outside the scope of this AYANEO hardware, but that's because almost EVERY technical aspect of things in life, consumers a lot of times have the wrong ideas, and the companies spreading their cheeks to drop these things in close proximety to predecessor technologies just adds exploitative fire to the mix, and all around makes the field of technology look like a messy junkyard.

We need to stop.

If they keep releasing more and more of these "handheld gaming pc", it means that there are people who actually buy these shits over Steam Deck, right?
I can't help but feel like that number isn't as big as you think it is. In the Asian markets, there may be more sales. However, nobody I've talked to knows who ayaneo is. They all know what a steam deck is, though. Small sample size, but I really don't think companies like Ayaneo do well in western markets.

ive never seen anyone with an Ayaneo product personally. If I did I would probably laugh at them. I've seen Abernics and even given out some Abernic's as gifts to my neices and nephews. I would be suprised if the asian market gobbles these up because asian's are usually smart with their money. These have to be more for the social influencer market of people with too much money and a need to buy something to try to make videos to promote it and make them feel good about having something others dont.

Well of course not. Even known OEMs, like Lenovo, haven't really been able to take off with their handheld like the Steam Deck has. The issue is marketing, and a lack of worthwhile features. The majority of these also refuse to use Linux, which further drives up their price. Valve has a golden goose that's only going to pump out larger chunks of gold as time goes by. Now that they've officially partnered with Arch Linux as a mainstay contributor, Linux is about to become super viable. You've also got the Switch to consider, which is still the preferred handheld amongst most western consumers. I think a lot of people see these other handhelds, and just think of them as overly priced gimmicks since they're primarily marketed as emulation machines. The first thought it is "my phone can do this, so why should I buy it?" And then, in cases like these that are meant to play PC games, performance in several areas can be abysmal.
