That's pretty much the reason I never got on with the Deck. Could never argue the value it offers or even the intuitiveness of its OS, it's just a massive thing. Even Windows handhelds like the ROG Ally manage to be that marginal bit more portable to make them easier for me.
I can understand, but for individuals like me with big hands and fingers, I love it. I could just get a Razer Kishi for my phone and emulate no problem, but the controls and the big screen and bigger size to it feels so much more comfortable.

Yeah it's definitely a difficult balance. I gave my Deck to my partner and she loves it, but it's very much a handheld that stays in the house. Meanwhile my Odin 2 Mini is taken everywhere with me. Different systems for different needs I suppose.

I was tempted by the other steam deck more expensive aternatives, Asus ROG and Lenovo Legion GO are nice devices, but SD on sale is like $350 and for $75 or so, you can easily make it a 1T handheld gaming device that works pretty well.
Although, I agree, it is not super portable. It is nice if you like to game at work and you don't want to use work equipment. I'm even learning a little about Arch Linux...
