I'm working on a project to get the original channels working.

AwesomeMarioFan/Larsenv's WiiConnect24 Replacement!
This was made by me and AwesomeMarioFan.

NOTE: This is for your browser.

Introduction:

You know the WiiConnect24 thing on the Wii that was used for Weather, Voting, Nintendo News, News, Mii sharing, etc.? Me and AwesomeMarioFan brought it back, to use on your browser. We missed the functions of the channels and wanted to bring it back to life after all these years. It really showed what the Wii could do.

Credits:
  • Check Mii Out Channel Widget is powered by My Avatar Editor.
  • Everybody Votes Channel Polls are powered by Play Nintendo. We couldn't find a better way to recreate this, but if we get more people like you visiting our website we can do polls.
  • Forecast Channel Widget by SimpleWeather.
  • Music Playlists powered by Playlist Me.
  • News and Nintendo Channel RSS Widgets by FeedWind.
  • Nintendo Channel was powered by NintendoLife's RSS.
  • News Channel was powered by CNN's RSS. The "CNN Student News" clips weren't included since they are just videos for students.
  • If you are the creator of the linked websites or widgets and want it removed, please contact us. I don't wanna be the one who stole your work, however I tried my best to make sure they were OK to use...

You already can visit a Weather page in your browser... It's nintendo's own site... I don't get it

This is meant to look like the Wii Forecast Channel:

That guy. ^

Like the weather icons on the site showing the forecast are the ones that were used on the Channel.

It also has the music the channel used.

Nice, do you need some special browser agent?
Can you browse through Wii U? :)

No, you do not need a special browser agent to load these.

And yes, everything will work properly except that the Check Mii Out Channel and Forecast Channel won't load since it's in Flash. We tried on the Wii Internet Channel and didn't load even though it had Flash installed on there.

I think the original one was good enough, while it keep similar it's fine for me.

It's been about a month and I worked hard and got a ton done. Here's a changelog:

  • You can now download the Globe 3D Model in .DAE format and spin it as much as you want. Sorry, no weather on the globe, but it might bring back some nostalgia.
  • Weather Channel has been given a new look and looks more like the original channel. I changed the FlashXML widget to SimpleWeather, which no longer requires Flash and looks much better. It should also run better, and might even run on iOS devices.
  • News Channel has been updated, it also looks more like the original channel now. You can now choose what you want to read in organized categories, like the News Channel used.
  • If you have the Wii NTLG PGothic font, you can now use it for this. Now the plugins use the same font as used in the channels.
  • More updates to the "Fun" section. There will be more updates periodically. You can now also print out any template used in the Wii Message Board (I looked all over to find as many templates as I could.) and use it to write notes to whoever you would like, with cool stationery.
Also, I'm researching how to extract the .dat files from the TV Friend Channel. It might be used for something, but Super Smash Bros. Melee and Kirby Air Ride used the same format.

Enjoy.

Looking good :yayu:
Nice update!

Thanks, I just tested this on a Wii U. No homebrew's required for this. :P

The Forecast Channel is running OK (It uses Wii NTLG PGothic, the Wii U and 3DS luckily still use it.) but you should fork the CodePen and edit the JavaScript if you want to use your location you're in.

The News Channel is running great, in fact it runs good on about every device I've tried.

The Nintendo Week and Nintendo Channel Videos pages are now added to the Nintendo Channel page, now given the News Channel and Forecast Channel's index pages' look.

I also wanted to make the Globe be viewable using the Wii U GamePad...

However, I think that I should make a section on how to view the Globe on your Wii instead.
