Hey Pitoui, what netgear modem/router you got man?

I got a Netgear ADSL2+ DG834G, and upgraded the firmware to the latest, and i had to forward ports on it to my wii, once i forwarded the ports, and gave the wii its own IP address (rather than having the modem work as a DCHP) i've been able to connect to the wii in no time at all for games, or the wii shop channel.

@Bray, yeh dude, Charelle and i were playing split screen last night in those GPs, and you kept falling behind in the second last GP, i was wondering why, now it makes total sense lol.

Think we can all agree, that whether you get a cloud 1v1 in second, or 12 player last place, its a BS item lol. I'd be more than happy to be able to eradicate both the cloud, and blue shells from online play with friends.

EDIT: On another note, downloaded Okami for wii this morning before work. Anyone into Zelda style adventures, i highly recommend you give it a go, brilliant stuff.

It's a netgear wgt624 v2.

It's very temperamental. It connects (when it wants to) and disconnects (when it wants to).
Hopefully this firmware update will fix it, otherwise I have to abuse them to give me a new one.

And forwarding ports and such just goes over my head, in other words, I dunno what your talking bout lol. Thanks though.

Im gonna give MK a go now. Hopefully it's all good.

Ok man, hopefully it fixes your setup, if not, later on i'll find out what set up you got, and we'll try to improve things a bit.

I don't know much about comps either, but enough to be able to help you forward ports and such if need be, depending on your set up.

Pitoui, a simple 'catch all' solution to your problem may be to
1) Login to your router
2) Set a static port for your Wii
3) Set the Default DMZ Server to the static port of your Wii (assuming your router offers this option)

What this should do, is redirect any access to undefined ports to your Wii. I don't actually recommend this, as it is likely insecure. NEVER open all ports to a PC, for instance - the Wii may be less of a target, though... None of these ports will be stealth anymore. That said, it is likely that the Wii will report them as closed.

At the very least you could try this, and see if it fixes your problem. Normally I'd only recommend forwarding a select few ports, but it seems the Wii randomly assigns ports for online play. I haven't researched this to a great extent, so feel free to correct me.

I got a Wiikey 1.9s, 3.2E PAL console, which is a launch dated console.

Took me no time at all to download it from blackcats, gotta love adsl2+ hehe.

Only thing i did to it dude, was Brickblock it. There is an update on the disc, despite being a third party game. Brick Blocking it seems to work fine, well, from getting into the game it did, will give it more of a bash tonight.

It's a top tier Wii title, up there with SSBB, Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy, Zelda TP, MP3 Corruption etc etc.

@elo, don't stress too much man, personally, your win/loss record is more important than your ranking is. The ranking system will stuff some people up if they think it's whats important, but it's not. Go into your LICENSE/RECORDS, you'll see your online win/losses there, as well as your friends win/losses, both for battle and vs.

I'd guarantee you'd be at a fairly good win-loss ratio man.

Charelle won a few matches today, where she came first, then got dced against the other opponents. Not sure yet, if this is due to DCers taking advantage of some glitch (happened in MK DS a lot, still does) or if its simply the servers acting up a bit. Hopefully its the latter. Charelle lost 500 points over 3 matches, but managed to get back up to 7000, and then lost another match through DC which brought her back down to 6800.

@Bray, my Wii is set to 480p, and it worked this morning, so i'll go ahead and say thats a yes to 480p for Okami man.

Here's an example of how we're hoping people will organize their league games, using me as an example.

FIXTURE CAN BE FOUND HERE..........

WEEK 1: 28TH APRIL - 4TH MAY

ORIGINAL: Luigis Circuit, DK Summit, Grumble Volcano
ARMADA VS BIG CHOP

CLASSIC: GBA Shy Guy Beach, N64 Mario Raceway, N64 Sherbet Land
ARMADA VS ELO

STEP 1: Start of that week, i will PM both ELO and BIG CHOP, letting them know my times i can play that week, lets say, mon-thur night, 7-10pm AEST, Saturday 10am-5pm.

STEP 2:
I will then post this in the fixture thread, to show i've attempted contact, and vice versa. Once we've organized a time we can both play at, i will EDIT that post, and post the details in it, as should BIG CHOP and ELO. This shows everyone is agreed on the times. I can play ELO or BIG CHOP in any order, order doesn't matter as long as its before weeks end.

STEP 3: I race my opponents on a night we've organized. We start a GP, and for the first three races, we BOTH pick the 3 courses stated. The 4th course, feel free to play for fun, but the first 3 are all that matter to the league, and they must be the courses stated.

STEP 4: I post the RESULTS in the fixture/ladder post i made through EDIT, and my opponent does the same in his post.

STEP 5: Ladder will be updated at weeks end. It's pretty simple stuff, and all it requires is people to once a week, look at their opponents, contact them, and get some races, raced. Only takes 15 mins to get 3 races done including making a room. I don't have the time to follow up and make sure everyone is contacting their opponents, so, this is up to the players to do so.

Beaten by Chaazziiee in 1v1 GP. Well deserved, tough opponent.

That said, I still maintain 1v1 online play is severely broken. Once again, multiple 'shrink clouds' in a row the instant I dropped into second place. This occurred on two of the four courses. If I didn't know any better, I'd say the little man that hides in the Wii and chooses random numbers had been out drinking

(Note, I don't mean this to sound like bad sportsmanship - I deserved the loss. I simply have grievances with 1v1 GP. Perhaps it simply doesn't suit my play style.)

Well, i had the opposite happen in my races man.

Just raced Vertabray before, in 2 GPs.

FIRST GP: Armada 3 Bray 1
RACE 1: I won.
RACE 2: Bray won.
RACE 3: I won, was a close one, Bray nearly hit the line here.
RACE 4: I won, after getting a Blue Shell followed by a red on the last lap to catch him (i'd fallen off and was a bit back).

SECOND GP: Armada 2 Bray 2
RACE 1: I Won, fave course, rainbow road.
RACE 2: I won, i got hit by a blue, then i got a Shrink Cloud (which speeds you up dramatically till you shrink) but managed to wipe it on the cannon, then copped another cloud, didn't catch Bray, but then got him with a blue, then another red (like before lol) and managed to beat him by a corner or so.
RACE 3: Bray won, it was pretty close for most of the race, but he made good placement with his bananas, making it hard to get through and slowing me down by a few corners at least.
RACE 4: Bray won, a mirror course, yuck lol, we both did silly things, like hitting the caterpillars, falling off, turning the wrong way, but in second my best was a red shell, and then a mushroom, which i used brilliantly going off the edge lol. Bray won easy.

I don't think 1v1 is broken at all, i was in second multiple times over all 8 of those games, and only one game did i get the cloud, though it was twice in a track. Another game, Bray got it, and passed it on smartly to me, just in time for me to shrink, very smart. The few times i did get it, the game gave me blues or so on, to even it up. Most of our games, we were both in it right till the end, with the exception of 2 races, one i caned it in, and one bray caned it in.

I watched your races with Charelle Beatnik, only from her point of view that is, and i think what killed you more than anything in the 3-1 loss, was she got some good items right at the start (cloud she got passed to you just in time to shrink you) and after that you struggled to get back in those races. While, the race you won, you won solidly.

The game involves some luck, so sometimes you'll get blues galore, other times clouds galore, other times nothing but crappy green shells or ink. That's how it goes, i take my luck when i can get it, and i get it going the opposite way to me as well, when i get bad luck, it's usually a chain reaction, 12 player or 2 player lol. Don't think 1v1 has to do with play style at all, it's about luck, and pressure you can put on your opponent with what luck your given.

Absolutely man, your green shells smashed me hardcore a few times, very nice aim indeed lol.

I don't think there were any times in the races where i felt safe in the lead, or felt i couldn't come back from second, top stuff.
