Release date and price likely to be revealed
Nintendo Australia has announced that they'll be holding an event on February 8th in Sydney to discuss their launch plans for Nintendo's upcoming 3DS system.
While no specifics of the event have been detailed so far, speculation points to an Australian release date and price point being revealed to the gaming public at that date

thought i would post thos for our aussie friends

I think you Aussies should be waiting with chopped onions instead of baited breath. Call it a hunch but I predict y'all will be crying sweet tears of WTF Nintendo.

I'd be willing to pay a maximum of $300 as well, but I think that's very unlikely...

To make a point, the DSi was $300AU when it came out here, up from $170US in America. Now the 3DS will be $250US sooo..... yeah.

Get ready for more abuse from Nintendo Australia.

PS: I know our dollar is worth a lot more now, but it really doesn't seem to matter to these guys.

So that means you'll import games aswell? That's alot of work. I'd rather spend extra money.

You can get a virtual US address with free shipping rerouting for $10 a month.

I'd rather spend that, wait an extra week and save ~$150 on the console and ~$20 on every game than not have to wait and pay extra.

+1

It all adds up. Games are much, much cheaper in the US.

So, unless Nintendo Australia reduce their prices to reflect the current currency exchange rate (ie. US$1 = AU$0.98) -- and show an understanding that the product that the US consumer buys is exactly the same as the product that the Australian consumer buys, and should not cost up to double the price -- then I will take my dollars elsewhere...

That, at the moment, is EB game's estimate.

I bought a DSi 1 month before they dropped the price. Bastards...
