Retailers put a forced stop to Wii pre-orders

The Nintendo Wii will be making its big debut in Australia in just over a week, and the demand has been so huge that Nintendo has suggested that it may become the country's "biggest launch of any new video games system in history." Everybody's getting excited over the launch, and a large number of people are still legging it over to their local stores to try and grab a Wii pre-order.

For those who still haven't made their pre-orders, you'd best go about it now because reports say that some retailers in the Land Down Under have been forced to put a stop to new Wii pre-orders. According to a Nintendo Australia spokesperson, "There are a handful of retailers that have actually had to stop taking pre-orders because they can no longer guarantee stocks."

With this level of consumer demand, Nintendo's planned shipment of 4 million consoles by the end of 2006 seems on track to fly off the shelves as soon as they come in.
