Yea welcome to wii killing flash drives now go buy a proper USB HDD

Why does the wii actually do that, if I may ask? Does it overvolt the usb port? Is it the way it reads the data?

Good to know anyway, no ssd's for my wii then...good thing I bought a new hdd recently. Thought about getting a ssd, but hdd was cheaper...

then I guess it has become a paperweight

yeah, ended up throwing it away and using a new one, it felt like i was close to the solution with the drivers though
