Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom - release date and trailer

Following a successful launch in its native Japan, the eagerly anticipated action game will be released across Europe under the title: ‘A.O.T. Wings of Freedom’ on the 26th August 2016. The title name is a nod to the fan-favourite blue and white wings of the Scout Regiment insignia, where many of the anime’s (and by extension the game’s) playable characters serve.

Koei Tecmo also confirmed that ‘A.O.T. Wings of Freedom’ will be available for players to enjoy on a wide selection of consoles, and is currently being developed for physical release on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and for digital only release on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita handheld system and on PC via Steam.

‘A.O.T. Wings of Freedom’ closely follows the riveting story line of Attack on Titan’s first season and focuses on the exploits of various key characters, putting the player in a position to relive the anime’s most shocking, courageous, and exhilarating moments. It revolves around the story of three young people who survive the destruction of their walled city district by enormous, man-eating Titans and eventually go on to join the Scout Regiment in order to protect humanity from this overpowering foe.

While more information about the game’s plot, original content, and playable characters will be unveiled in the coming weeks, Koei Tecmo has released the first batch of localised assets, as well as an action trailer.

They dun goofed by trying to follow the anime storyline.
They should focus on either making up a new story or a side story to the anime.

We already know what happens in the anime/manga. Might as well just show anime clips like in the 3DS version.

Hertfordshire, 6th July 2016- KOEI TECMO Europe today revealed the new multiplayer Scout Mode as well as additional gameplay mechanics available in A.O.T. Wings of Freedom, the titanic action game based on the worldwide anime hit ‘Attack on Titan’, alongside a new gameplay video. The game will release on the26th August 2016 for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, as well as digitally only on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®Vita handheld system and PC via Steam®.

The fast paced Scout Mode allows players to recruit up to three companions online to venture outside the wall and face the eerily human-like Titans together. Starting at the camp, team members are able to upgrade their gear, change their costumes and prepare resources for an upcoming onslaught. The leader of the group is able to choose from a wide selection of missions taking place across a variety of different stages, including the Forest of Giant Trees, the Ruined Town, a Farm Village and even the Stohess District. These missions, separate from the main campaign, offer further action-packed events to face as a team.

Throughout A.O.T. Wings of Freedom players will have the opportunity to upgrade their titan-slaying gear. The Omni-Directional Manoeuver Gear, blades, and scabbard can be enhanced at the camp with materials found from slaying Titans on single player and multiplayer missions. Enhancements to the Omni-Directional Manoeuver Gear include improved anchors, allowing them to attach on to Titans from a greater distance and at faster speeds. Blades can be sharpened, as well as improved to become longer and more durable, with scabbard upgrades allowing additional blades and gas canisters to be carried. It is important for players to raise their equipment’s level to perform more effectively on the battlefield.

KOEI TECMO Europe released three character videos showcasing Erwin, Hange and Levi, as well as a new gameplay video highlighting theDecisive Battle Signal. Rescuing regiment members in danger and slaying titans will fill up the Decisive Battle Meter which, once used, calls everyone in the player’s vicinity to their side to deal a great amount of damage. When activated their attack damage will be heightened, with the blunting of blades and depletion of gas momentarily stopped.
