Yes through Fusee Gelee, it exploits the bootrom for the current hardware revisions so it can do anything on them.

Yep, as long as the switch isn't the new Mariko hardware revision it should be fine. (SciresM also said there might still be an entrypoint via deja vu)

I wonder what "somewhat less convenient" means. Either way this is awesome news, and I can definitely hold off on 4.1.0 for now to have an easier install process. For all we know the less convenient method is some kind of hardware exploit so I'll hold off for now.
