Hey guys, recently on my switch my Atmosphere partition is running INCREDIBLY slow. Like, even waking, or launching, or closing an app is a good 30+ seconds. Games will (eventually) launch and mostly run ok but do have an odd stutter here and there.

I rebooted into sysnand and have some games installed on the sd card and they seemed to boot fine, sleeping and waking operated normally.

I still feel like it's some sort of SD card issue, but I don't exactly know how to pin it down... I did run the SD card benchmark tool from Hekate and here were the results... is anything majorly off here? Is it possible this issue is something other than the SD card dying or something?

UPDATE: Well, found another sd card layin around, so went through migrating my emummc and files over and now it runs fine. Also to continue to confirm the other card at first formatted very slowly, now it won't format at all, and errors out even in diskpart... :D So gonna' call this one just a dying sd card and glad I moved all my stuff off before it died completely, lol.

Your sd card reader is probably broken, it sounds like it is running in 1 bit mode. Luckily replacements are 5 dollars and quite literally pop in pop out.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    For your R4
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
