Hi to all.
I have a Switch OLED with modchip, and was on FW 17.0 but wanted to update to 18.1.0

So as usual I downloaded the latest atmosphere/fussee.bin/hekate/signpatcges from usual sources and put it in the SD card. Then atmosphere loaded correctly and I went on homebrew menu to update the firmware to 18.1.0 with Daybreak.

After the update I clicked reboot, it booted to Hekate menu and I choose as usual the payload fussee.bin, but now i get a black screen after the Atmosphere logo.

I do not understand what I did wrong, as I usually updated this way.
Is there something (maybe some other homebrew) that causes this crash because not compatible to newer firmware?
Can somebody help me with a solution?

Thank you very much in advance!

Ran into this issue several times and in all cases just removing the Atmosphere/Hekate folders and installing a fresh install fixed the issue.
Also make sure that you use the fusee.bin that comes with the latest install and mind that an older version might be loaded off your SD card.
Homebrew should in most cases not have any effect on booting Atmosphere, unless it's one of those system module hacks.
If you suspect it is one of those, just install a normal install first and then start adding such modules/.

Thank you for the reply.
I actually tried that way but after I did my switch booted into Official Firmware directly.
Maybe is because my switch uses modchip and needs some other files inside those folders (just by guess). I don't know which files though, except the boot files in the root of SD

something incompatible would give you an Atmosphere crash screen not black screen. Where you source your firmware?

Thank you @thesjaakspoiler
First time runnin into this problem, also fixxed it thanks to you!

Updated through AIO and using DeepSea, worked on my other switch
With this switch I updated firmware with Tegra -> Daybrake, worked, but then got the black screen after the DeepSwitch screen to my switch powering off.
Updated a few files, didnt fix it. Dragged and dropped and overwrite using the newest HATS pack and it works again <3

I do but the optometrist I got my glasses at last year was expensive as fuck even WITH my insurance, so I'm gonna order on Zenni and see if my insurance will reimburse it. And if they won't, then, oh well, still will be cheaper anyway
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
$90 for the safety glasses on Zenni, vs my daily wear glasses were >$200 after insurance

Haven't been to the eye doc in like 3 years but was pretty surprised they cut the glass in office had the in like an hour ready

That's pretty sweet, I had to wait like a week or so for mine to be ready

Lookin at buying another pair of regular glasses too. And maybe prescription sunglasses

My eyes aren't that bad, I need mine for driving but ever since I got my latest pair I wear them all the time when I'm home now, I never used to before

But even my computer monitors, that are like 3ft away when I'm leaning back in my chair, so much easier to see now with my glasses than without
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Doc was cool though, he measured my old glasses and I wanted to try different contacts than I had had previously and he's like "hmmm I bet you're this strength and that strength" and damn dude was dead on the money

    lmao that clip

Know a guy who did laser surgery for like 2g but argued you'd never need glasses again
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    laser eye surgery scares me
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
The thought of any kind of surgery shit being done on my eyes gives me unbelievable amounts of dread and anxiety, and with the potential risks or side effects that laser eye surgery has, I don't think my eyes are bad enough to warrant it. I can see without my glasses - not great, but not bad either.
