In a recent report from Ubisoft, the ones who said they will continue to try and support the wii-u, will only be offering the minimal support they can.

As someone who is interested in Watch Dogs on wii u, I am honestly iffy about my purchase on that platform now. If ubisoft decides to make DLC for it too, I don't want to be screwed out of it because of my platform choice.

I wonder as to the deeper reasoning. More specifically I wonder if Nintendo have not been playing ball.

Does Nintendo even support the infrastructure for how DLC is downloaded, stored, and accessed? It's essentially the same across the PS3, 360, and PC markets, but I didn't think the WiiU was up to part with those yet in terms of data storage and accessibility. Everything is on Nintendo's terms.

Doesn't surprise me that the DLC would be called off.

    - Increase the hardware sales or game sales. Sadly, it looks like it's up to the customer to change that.
    - Assassin's Creed DLC has never been good and it's always been shit.
    - There's interest in this game despite the last 2 AC games being garbage?

Perhaps there's just no market for DLC on the platform? Supply and demand - if people aren't buying DLC then what incentive does Ubisoft have for releasing it on the system? It's hard to blame such issues on "the gamers" as they're not running companies or publishers, but they are the customer and if they don't want to buy the product, the product will eventually leave the marketplace.

And yet they anticipate high sales? They support Nintendo and pull a fast one. Seems legit. I just hope the game doesn't have the same choppy framerate as the last one.

The 3DS supports DLC just fine and the WiiU at least supports game updates. It wouldn't make any sense for it not to support DLC.

It's Ubisoft, you know how well known they are for being scumbags and screwing over Wii U ports. :creep: At least they're not pulling an EA and strip out features due to "time constraints".

That's not what I meant. I meant it doesn't make any sense to say the WiiU doesn't have the ability to support DLC.

I think it was when there were large crowds.

Do their systems support in-house DLC, or also DLC from third-party developers? It's one thing for Nintendo to know how to access DLC in an optimized manner for their systems, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the rest of the game development world understands how to do so, especially when working in a drastically different environment compared to the WiiU architecture.

Have you played it? Everything ran fine even when escaping in giant crowds, which involves knocking a bunch of people over.

Of course! :P I've practically beaten the game, maybe an update fixed it up a bit...? Huh....weird.

Oh I would not be surprised in the slightest to learn the DLC market on the Wii U is less than healthy, however that is the exact situation I would have expected Ubisoft to wander into Nintendo's office and say "make us an offer". Still I can see saying "forget it" instead.

On 3DS, eShop itself doesn't support DLC. Take Fire Emblem for example, DLC is purchase through game rather than eShop. I think the infrastructure simply isn't there, and it probably ain't worth the effort to develop it especially if other platforms can do it but not eShop. Not to mention that Wii U has significantly less userbase than PS3 and Xbox 360.

There's already DLC for Assassin's Creed 3, Injustice, Splinter Cell and some other games. It's not an issue with the infrastructure.
