For a while in July, the Ncard was having almost daily updates. Lately though, they have not.

Personally I think the R4 is great. Sure there are cards with more features than it but all those cards came out after the R4. These features weren't on offer when I bought the card, all that was advertised was 100% compatibility and everything else that has come since has been a bonus.

For all those complaining about Wii connectivity, was this advertised when you bought your R4? The Cyclo Evo has had it for ages, why didn't those that found the feature important buy the card that offered it, instead choosing to buy one that didn't and then complain that it doesn't? The most important question though is that if this game and those features are so important why haven't you gone out and bought the original?

Also, can I just ask everyone who's complaining about the lack of SDHC support when they bought their cards? Was it before or after the Cyclo Evo came out?

It's never enough for some people. They whine and say they "just want perfect compatibility" and when the R4 team finally fixes that, they find something else to whine about.

"Oh boo woo, I can't use my $60 microSDHC on my R4! I can't believe the R4 team didn't fix a hardware limitation with a new firmware!"

I, personally, don't care about all the other features as long as I have perfect compatibility. As long as I can play my games I'll be happy.

I've owned my R4 since April and the team have given me, what? Five updates within that time. They've added auto DLDI patching, a cheat system, full download compatibility, and still managed to keep it 100% compatible with current games. I might of forgot some features (I started back on v1.07) but that's plenty for a £23 (inc 1gb card) one off cost.

As for new features they could add? Possibly auto rumble/ram support, Wii/DS support, a better GUI and continued 100% support for games. Aside from that, it's perfect. SDHC isn't really a needed. 2Gb cards are very cheap now, anyway.

So, I'm still over the moon with my R4DS after over nine months of use. Even the spring is still working perfectly. I've even sent many, many people their way for business (more R4 customers).

worms was honestly the only thing that pissed me off about the R4DS... with this new patch - consider me 100% content.


edit: what would the purpose of frequent updates be? i completely don't understand what would be updated?

i dont insist on them. everything works pretty good the way it is. wii connectivity would be great, but i dont have a wii, so it doesnt really matter. and i dont have or am willing to buy an expensive HC memory card.

so for right now, as long as the actually keep updating it, that is fine with me

That can be nice, but right now even my 1 GB is enough.

Why is everybody always bitching about the updates? Live with it. Unless you absolutely need Wii connectivity or SDHC.

As I said before, I want Wii connectivity before all the games that use it are released.

What they would be? Well... Pokemon Ranch is one. Um... Oh, if a play-DS-games-on-a-TV-screen Wii Channel is ever released... Pokemon Ranch is probably coming out in January; I think Ninty said all WiiWare games up to this point are being released in January. I mean, the ones that are finished, of course.

Yeeeeep. That'd be nice. No rush, though. If it doesn't come out by then, oh well.

I can spend hundred hours on a good game, so I don't need more than 1 gig (I max out my 4GB MS with 3 games and that's enough. I need at least 7 games to max out my 1GB microSD so if I want a bigger capacity, it would be for PSP =P)

sadly, this is not the case...
i find it shame updates need to be released to fix problematic games whereas they shouldve been working fine from the start

I thought it has 100% compatibility, now? And, Castlevania PoR depends on the SD card you use.

That logic is pretty bckasswards if you look at it. How is the R4 team supposed to know what security or way a developer is going to release a game? Hence the patching. 100% again is where they stand. Until another way of releasing the games are determined.

I've had an R4 since early this year. They've been very good about gettting patches out "as needed". This last patch took care of the ARM 7 fix. Which was only a handful of games to begin with.

The Wii crying is really over the top IMO. Sure it'd be a nice add on. But what else is there out that you can utilize that feature with? What would make it worth the R4 teams effort to fix that for one game? That is not a make or break feature currently.
