Or maybe through Nintendo ID? My family has a WiiU in the living room and I have a profile with my Nintendo ID attached. If I happen to buy a game now, then buy myself a WiiU later on, can I transfer save data and games to that new console?

Yes, there'sa tool in system settings that allows move all your stuff over a new system, BUT it will delete the info from the old one.
