Are colored pencils crayons or pencils?

    I (UK English speaker) would have gone with crayons are the thing made of wax or something most would mistake as such, coloured pencils are things more resembling either a wooden pencil or mechanical pencil which typically involves the deposition of solid material.

    Of course there is also the Penny Crayon question

    Colored pencils may have leads similar to crayons, but by definition they are pencils.
