No, because free cfw exists (even if you don't care). DS flashcards are still worth it tho. And cfw will not only save space but also money.

They do what they are supposed to do (accurate 3DS gamecard emulation) just fine;

but their value (things you can do vs price), ease of use (game selection), and number of runnable software - are inferior to buying a larger SD for the console itself and installing games (including digital releases and homebrews) to it, selectable directly from the home screen

Absolutely not. A 3DS flashcart costs around $100, while cfw is totally free. Using dumps from the internet is also likely to get you banned due to private header stuff, which you don't have to deal with if you have cfw. Gateway especially is pretty hard to get running & requires you to install their own (pretty bad) cfw that doesn't let you update past 11.2 (so you can't play games that need 11.3 or higher without doing complicated frankenfirm things).
