Is there a bookstyle layout for the screens in no$GBA? (If I were to guess, the answer is no)

My second question would be: Is there a way to emulate sleep mode? (Again, I'm guessing the answer is no.)

1. You can get one a LCD screen which has a rotating screen

2. Why do you want to emulate sleep mode? It's main purpose is to preserve battery power, of which is irrevelant when emulated.

1. No

2. Minimizing no$gba emulates a screen close, if you're playing a game that reacts to screen closes like Hotel Dusk, or Zelda PH.

Well for bookstyle what you could do is change your screen sideways... no i dont mean rotate i mean pressing Ctrl-Alt-and either left or right arrow key
Works on most computers

Thanks guys. And yes, one of the games I had in mind was Hotel Dusk, which utilizes sleep mode and the bookstyle screen. I didn't know minimizing the window emulates sleep mode. What a very creative way to go about it.

I'll take a look at that program, Killermech. Thanks for that.

Technically it emulates shutting the DS. The DS will only go into to sleep mode if the game tells it to, which is why homebrew doesn't always support it.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
