Another day, another interesting problem, and I don't think a work-around is going to be effective here. Long story short, bought Other M and don't want to have to go through the hassle of loading it through gecko every single time.

The problem is, I've somehow lost my ability to do just about anything after doing a sanity check. More than the basic homebrew stuff of course like the channel, and doing some things through that.

Using IOS 61 (rev 5405)
19 ios on console
Analyzed ISO70 (rev 6687)
  • Trucha Bug - Disabled
  • Flash Access - Disabled
  • Boot2 Access - Disabled
  • Usb 2.0 IOS tree - Disabled (I don't use USB, so that doesn't really matter)
Waninkoko does everything through the Trucha Bug (At least I think so, maybe I'm being senile and I'm wrong) and my attempts to reinstall it have all ended in failures. Each one more glorious circular logic than the last. You need to install item A to get Item B to work. You can't install item B because you need item A

And the moment I try anything with ios249 my wiimote shuts off. Though the really odd part is have a WAD Manager called Yet another WAD Manager Mod and it works fine. Though I betting it's because it modded by someone else.

While I could go forward with ISO69 and 70, I'm going to err on the side of caution due to all the brickings in people trying to update. And I am open to just about any idea, that doesn't involve hard modding.

Do You have working HBC?
Then solution is in my signature.

I'm not sure I entirely understand the problem but I will take a stab at it.

Easiest way to deal with Metroid Other M update is to block it with Priiloader, load the game with Neogamma, or run from cfg usb loader.

From what I gather from the rest of your post, you've lost the ability to run homebrew. I can't figure out how extensively from what you have said, but I know something went wonky with a friend's Wii a few days ago where he had HBC but no homebrew app would launch. We resolved the problem by allowing nintendo to do its official update to 4.3, and then using the awesome new ModMii program and posted tutorial available on sticky of this forum to set up a 4.3 hacking sd card that brought his console back down to 4.1 and fixed IOSes and hacks. I should also note that the process was made easier with having hackmii installer 0.8 preinstalled, and that particular version did not get whacked by the 4.3 system menu.

Try this method at your own risk obviously, but I'm hoping it can offer some insight.

Alright, I'll give that a shot. Also I do like the idiot's walkthrough when using it, considering if there's a way to screw up the process, I have a way to find it.

QUOTE(Kryptical @ Sep 1 2010, 02:17 AM) Use SysCheck 2.0.0. Sanity Check displays wrong information when I used it.
Noted, I install that and report back.

Oh and drhacknslash, my HBC is working, it's just whenever i try to run a Waninkoko or some other programs, it causes the wiimote to lose connection/freeze.

Is it only wanin apps? It sounds exactly like what happened to my friend's Wii the other night that I described. He still had a working HBC, but every app run from it would freeze the Wii and force him to hard reboot. Push come to shove, you could try what he did. Just be sure to have a copy of one of the 3 games used in 4.3 hacking.

In hindsight, I want to blame a partially corrupted IOS60 or 4.0 system menu on the problem because it didn't occur on his system until we tried to update it from 3.3 to 4.0 using Firmware_Updater_4.0 which I think is by Wanin.

UPDATE: Followed what Mike333 said down to the letter, and got it to work and installed 4.3u. I'm really annoyed at how there's a wan. on it now. Is this some sort of vanity thing or a way to identify who updated through his program? Either way, I've heard that as long as you have HBC 1.0.8, Doing the Nintendo Update won't wipe it. And that tag is annoying enough for me from an aesthetics point that I might downgrade and do that. Then again, I can ride out through to 4.4/5.0 and wait for HBC to be delete proof again and do the update through Nintendo and reinstall any cleaned out ios. What would be easier?

Kryptical, used SysCheck 2.0.0, much better.

Also when I try to open DOP-Mii, i have the same problem as I did before Wanin's stuff where the wiimote discconects/freezes, I don't even get to do anything either.

Finally, still get that System Update Channel when I try to play the game from the disk. Installed that. Redid what Mike333 instructed. And it returned. I'm considering using Priiloader. But I see all these WARNINGS. Should I just continue the vicious cycle of installing IOS when I want to do something, then letting the system update erase them when I play games?

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now

    Interesting lol

I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)

So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb

but that game barely runs at native 4k

I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that

least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling

They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great

so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously

Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting

Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?

Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more

    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
