Hacking anyway to make your own ds r4 card or any card for flashing

im a big n00b when it comes to this topic....do you have to buy an r4 or can you make one or hack your ds in some way

You have to buy a flash card to be able to play roms and homebrew.

but wait, when you buy a flash card, can it be any flash card?? once you buy a flash card how do you make it into a R4 card? im confused

Just get any flash card like AceKard2 or CycloDS and put their firmware on the card and you are good to go.

yeah acekard2 + AKAIO (custom firmware) is the best

cyclo ds is also good. it has;

- wii connectivity (good if you want to upload your pokemons/use ds for pokemon battle revolution or pokemon ranch)
- slow motion feature
- save state feature

the problem is it's expensive than the others and that it doesnt work on the DSi
