although mine didn't brick (thank the lord) i am worried to try and instigate an update in the wii config panel. i.e. page 4 of config.

I can just see the next euro update screwing things up...i hope not

how did some people apply the working patch? What game updates it?

Need to figure out what legitly patches the FW so PAL users can update with an actual PAL DISC and then play SPM

I think it as simple as upgrade to the latest firmware thru the settings then upgrade with the game.
    Worked perfect for me

    PAL DMS WII
    Connected with wifi

Ofcourse this dosent help the one's that allready bricked it...

Can you get into the Wii menu at all after being bricked?

As long as the wii is upgraded to firmware 2.1E then the game will run fine.

I have a PAL wii with a wiid chip, i updated the firmware before putting the paper mario disc into the wii, when i loaded up the game i was asked to update from the disc, i run the update leaving it untill the wii reset itself.

    Everything is working fine.

If I had a bricked Wii, I wouldn't do this:

Buy a new Wii. Take out the new Wii, put back your bricked Wii. Return it. Or return it and tell them that it's not working.

take your chip out. Tell nintendo you tried to install an original firmware update and it failed and now your wii is bricked. Also say you opened it to see if anything was loose. Also try taking it back to where you bought it from [IMG] would a wii brick if you had a power cut while you where installing new firmware to the wii?

i think a lot of you are crazy to risk this. I know it works but i am just worried about the next euro update. I can see a lot of people getting dissapointed..

it shouldnt be too long, i mean opera is released in a week or two i though, so surely that will need an update..

i think i can hold that long..

I feel horrible for you guys across the pond that bricked. If the situation were reversed (NTSC bricking) I could have easily made the same mistake.

You can't even open up to the menu with the bricked wiis, you wont be able to just fix it. Only option is taking it back to where you bought it or to nintendo.

Anybody successfully contacted Nintendo UK about re-flashing? I sent an email early afternoon but no reply, going to call them tomorrow. Will get back with details on servicing/details of civil or criminal action (I really don't like my country anymore... [IMG] ).

You don't need to, if the modchip has its own OS. [IMG]
