Hacking Anyway to fix a corrupt micro SD card

A friend of mines laptop overheated and shut off today while he was writing some roms or shit onto his card for his r4 well anyways now the card doesnt work in the R4 and it isnt reconzied as even being plugged in on his laptop or pc with 2 different card readers.So is there anyway to force a format or repair of the card?

someone suggested before to stick it in a digital camera or some other similar type of device, they format it automatically for you.

Neither he or I have another device to try to format it other than a pc.I guess worst case tomorrow he and I can just head over to Fry's and grab a new one if we can't find a solution , it's not really a big deal though I just don't want to see 20 bucks spent if it didn't need to be.

Generally, I would suggest to format sd cards only with this.
