I'm not sure, if not hamachi then I wonder if it would be possible to have another software do something like this.
'cause your computer and your 3DS would be on the same local network, so I wonder if there would be a way for the computer to kinda put the 3DS in another local network with someone else's 3DS over the internet.

I mean, this connects via internet but apparently only uses local IPs or something? I'm not too savvy when it comes to that so I don't know if there could be a way to "forward" a local ip like this to the internet somehow.

That or maybe see if it'd be possible to modify ctrquake to use actual public IPs.
It might be possible to use xlink kai(simulates LAN for players over the internet.) I've never used it before. It didn't support DS' LAN multiplayer but seeing as this is a homebrew it might work(?)

EDIT: well I googled a bit more and it seems like the 3DS does not support xlink kai too as Ninty had made special modifications to block these things :/ I guess we'll just have to wait for full networking support in ctrquake

hosting your own quake server on the 3ds would likely require enabling port forwarding on your wifi router - and it be a really poor exerience. You both may be able to connect to a quake server with a public ip - if such a thing exists at this point.
