Yeah they did talk about the J release. And someone posted a similar thread to this a while back so I guess that people are looking forward to it:

It is a remake of a remake so its hard to get excited about it that much, I was really looking forward to it but I recently fired up the PSX version and its aged badly, still a decent game though.

Looking forward to Front Mission 2089: Border of Madness a lot more.

Looking forward to it. I played the original on SNES (on my computer >.>) and I'd like to get an actual English-localized version.

Eat my wanzer panzer!

Tried the original J version. T'was good, but battle animation was kinda boring IMHO. Still, can't wait for it. Does this have WiFi?

in this one, the menus are faster since we have stylus and dont need to go around unit selection and constantly having a menu ontop screen, so less menu surfing.

plus, you can play on both sides in DS version (priorly only in J releases of previous consoles).

still no talk of FF XII and DQJ here, seems that we dont have that much square fanz here. (i just pretend to be)

I don't believe using the stylus is faster...is what I realised when playing luminous Arc. I'm more of a Tri-Ace fan though is that classified as being a square fan as it's owned by square

Actually, I think it's a port of a port. According to Nintendo Power, they haven't changed the production / presentation of the game, so whatever was on the Famicon / PSx will be in this DS version. If you've seen the screens, it's pretty telling. That's not to say it won't be a good game. I'll certainly try it, but it's kinda disappointing to see Square Enix hold back the extra polish that they seem to be giving to other games. I mean, heck, FFIV didn't come out that long ago on the GBA, and we're already seeing a fully remade, 3-D version of it come to the DS.

I'm with you. I'm more looking forward to the new Front Mission DS.

I bought FM3 on the ps1 without knowing the history of the series. I later learnt about and started playing the original SNES game but held off when I heard they're porting the..ps1 port to the DS.
Still the front mission test84 mentioned looks great as well.

Too bad it is going to be jAP only. The story was quite good.
I'm not waiting for this version, any word on the US release date?
