I'm interested to see the manufacturing quality (solder joints, quality of components, etc) because from all the DOA units ive heard about it sounds like shit

Because normal people (non-devs) don't want to spend 50 dollars just to post a picture and people will reply: "Wow, that's cool.", "Ecks dee, cheap parts!". Let the fuckin' devs do it, or at least get a donation or something, etc, etc. But, now that I think about it, at least one dev should have bought 2 just to mess with the insides, so it is sort of weird that no pictures of the inside of it exist yet, well, afawk.

read the review, you can't open it without destroying the case, so don't expect many other pics
also don't worrry about all the doa posts, false situation, no one's likely to make posts just to say "mine's working just fine." so you only see the negative info and think they all fail

Mine's working just fine, for the record.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
