I mean a retailer that's selling it for RRP, not some eBayer/Amazon seller that bought it just to capitalize on the fact that it's rare, which makes it even more rare because the only people who have it are those who just want to rip other people off. Seriously, they're listing it at £70-£85, and it sickens me. :hateit:

TheHut have it listed at £29.95 (usually dispatched within a month), but they don't have a great history of being reliable. I don't mind waiting a month for it, but I thought I'd ask here if anyone knows first.

This is Tales of Symphonia: DotNW/KoR all over again. At least I could piratepre-download that game and play it while I waited for Amazon to order one in for me. Never had a problem with Tales of Symphonia for the GameCube.

I'm really lucky and bought it from my boss at work for £34, which is a lot better than anywhere else!
Apparently Zavvi sell it for £29.95, maybe you could give them a go? I've never ordered from them before, but I haven't particularly heard anything bad from the website:
    http://www.zavvi.com/10456888.html
(I was going to order from them until I found my boss was selling his).

It's getting a re-issue on 27th Jan...if you have a video games shop near you then go in, ask if they're getting any copies and if they are reserve one. There's no way of knowing if an online order will come through as there may be a MASSIVE backlog of orders.

They don't have stock either, but they're part of the same group as TheHut, and it's Zavvi I've had problems with in the past (had an issue with them just before Xmas too). I think I might go with Amazon, I feel like I'm more likely to actually get the game if I go through them.

That might be a good idea. Where did you hear this?

I don't even remember where i heard the news originally but it can be verified on gamestracker and even play.com. I went on the hunt because i initially ignored the game as i have the PS2 version already, but on realising how difficult it is to get, and that a portable version *might* be nice for the future, the search began.

If you're unsure just give your local shops a call to find out/reserve a copy.

Yeah, you're right both those sites have the release date set at January 27th. I think I might give my local GAME a ring then.

I've emailed GAME to ask them instead, since it's £29.99 on there. I'll let you know if I get a response. Unfortunately, though, they don't let you order out of stock items, you just have to wait for them to come back in.

You'd be better off just calling your local store.

The in-store price is £37.99. I've always found GAME to be reliable, though, both on the web and in the store.

Stock allocation will differ between individual shops and the internet. If you place an order online and you're placed 51st in the queue of orders, and the online side only gets 50 units you're sol. By enquiring locally you're competing against far fewer people and despite a smaller allocation may be more likely to secure a copy. Nothing stops you from asking if the local GAME Is getting any delivered for the 27th, then if your online order doesn't materialise going into the shop asap.

Ahhhh ok, I didn't realise >_< better not to then!
Have you also tried places like CEX? That's if you don't mind it being second hand.
Otherwise Amazon are very reliable, I've never had anything go wrong with them before, and I'm constantly buying off their site.

I'm sure you could cope with a room full of dicks if it was a worthwhile bounty ;) lol

OK, so I got a really annoying generic response from some faceless nobody at GAME customer services. For the sake of an extra 5 quid, Amazon it is.

Just a follow-up to my original post, I ended up placing orders with TheHut and Amazon, with the intention of cancelling one when I got further confirmation regarding the stock issue. I've cancelled my Amazon order, because TheHut responded to my query on Friday with the following email:

    Thanks for your message.

I can confirm that we will be receiving further stock of this item, we have several orders placed with suppliers. We would be expecting to receive further stock within the next 10 working days.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

    Kind regards,
    Dan

I received this on the 21st, so stock should be in by around the 4th (hopefully sooner). Amazon have removed the option for pre-order from their site, delegating to the in-stock sellers (the cheapest is selling for £44.99). Play.com have updated their page to show the product available for shipping within 4-5 days, which coincides with the original re-issue date of the 27th. It makes sense that TheHut.com would get their orders around the same time – or at least, that's wishful thinking.
