    Hi all:

For some reason, no matter what I do, I cannot install USB Loader on my Wii with system 4.1. I tried to follow a guide with multiple attempts, but can't get it to work.

My Wii is hardmodded with an Argon Chip, with Homebrew installed (before updated to 4.0).

If anyone here is located in NYC and has the tech know how to do it, I would be willing to pay a reasonable amount for your time.

    Thanks

This is the link to the guide that I was following:

    http://www.mikeandheth.com/games/109-store...tem-menu-4.html

I cannot install the custom cIOS installer or CIOSv7.wad.

I have Homebrew installed, and was able to install DVDx and a bunch of other stuff, including the system version downgrader (I think as it downloaded over the internet link). However, when it gets to installing the cIOS install and the wad, no matter what I do I keep getting error messages.

At this point, I am just fed up and if I can find someone who knows what they are doing, would just rather pay someone to do it and show me how it is done.

    Thanks

    0. Unplug any Gamecube Memory Cards, Gamecube Controllers, USB Devices
    1. Get bannerbomb working
    2. Install HBC using the Hackmii installer
    3. get IOS wads (only required when the Wii has no internet connection)
    4. run Trucha Bug Restorer and downgrade IOS15, install patched IOS36 as IOS36, restore IOS15.
    5. run cIOS installer rev 13 or higher.

    walkeroftheday's sig wins again.

KiiWii - thanks for the tips. I will try, though it seems a bit complicated and I don't want to screw it up. That's why I'd rather have someone with the know how do it for me...don't want to brick my Wii....

Yes, NYC is much safer than the UK. That's why I wouldn't even accept an invitation from someone in the UK, even if that person offered to help install USB Loader on my Wii...

I might be heading out to brooklyn on saturday. Where are you in the city? I might be willing to make a stop if you cover my train fare and can assure me that you aren't some undercover nintendo spy, or a rapist.

Amm.....thanks for the offer, but Saturday isn't good for me. I won't be around then.

I live in Brooklyn in the Marine Park neighborhood.

And I can assure you that I am NOT a Nintendo Spy - I have an Argon chip hardmodded Wii with tons of backups...

    I'm not a rapist either.

PS: Please don't go into my basement or you might discover the bodies....

Lol, let me guess the last you did was starting a special WAD Manager or selecting IOS35 in WAD Manager?

The guide you followed is totally outdated, it uses IOS35 downgrade, just search one that uses cBoot2 or Trucha Bug Restorer.

I'm going to be updating a LU64+ System 3.4 Wii soon. Since it has gotten quite complicated to do a softmod I had to sort together all the steps necessary. Here is my personal walk through designed to be as clear as possible since some steps are a bit tricky. Hopefully this is accurate and will help. Any corrections are appreciated.

You probably can skip to step 3 since you already have the Homebrew Channel installed. The Trucha Bug Restorer steps assumes you have WiFi enabled on the Wii.

You will need the following (use google to find these components)

    - bannerbomb
    - HackMii installer so you can get the Homebrew Channel
    - Trucha Bug Restorer
    - cIOS38 rev14 (or 10 or 13a if you prefer)
    - USB Loader GX
    - USB Losder GX forwarder channel + Wad Manager 1.4 (optional but convenient)

    1) Load bannerbomb (refer below)
    2) Load Homebrew Channel
    3) Run Trucha Bug Restorer (refer below)
    i) Downgrade IOS15
ii) Installed patched IOS36 as IOS36
    iii) Resore IOS15
    7) Load cIOS38 rev14 via Homebrew Channel
    8) Load USB loader forwarder using the Wad Manager (optional)
    9) Run USB loader gx from Homebrew Channel or via your forwarded channel

    Load Bannerbomb
    1. Click "Wii" in the system Menu
    2. Click "Data Management"
    3. Click "Channels"
    4. Click "SD Card" tab on the upper right
    5. Click "Yes"
    6. Wait a minute then press "1" when indicated
    7. "Install the Homebrew Channel"
    8. "Yes install channel"

    Running Trucha Bug Restorer

    1. Run Trucha Bug Restorer from the Homebrew Channel
    2. Select which IOS to load : IOS36
    3. Downgrade IOS15
    4. Download IOS from NUS
    5. Press A to start step 1
    6. Press A to start step 2
    7. Press any button to exit
    8. Run Trucha Bug Restorer
    9. Select which IOS to load : IOS15
    10. IOS36 menu
    11. Use following options:
    a. Install IOS to slot 36
    b. Patch hash check (trucha) yes
    c. Patch ES_Identify yes
    d. Patch nand permissions no
    12. Install patched IOS36
    13. Download IOS from NUS
    14. Press A to start the install
    15. Press any button to exit
    16. Run Trucha Bug Restorer
    17. Select which IOS to load : IOS36
    18. Restore IOS15
    19. Download IOS from NUS
    20. Press A to start installation
    21. Press any button to exit

    Hi:

Thanks for the guide. I am trying to install CIOS Rev 14 as you suggested, and when I get to the menu, it has IOS249. I don't know if I was supposed to leave it on that, but did. I then select network installation and it starts downloading content.

However, in the installation, when installing custom IOS it gives me an error with the following message
    Install ERROR! (ret + -1035)

Then it says finishing installation, please wait...OK!

    I then restart

When I select USB Loader GX, it says no usb device attached and neither my WD Passport 500 gb or my Sandisk 16 GB USB key are recognized.

Do you have any idea what is happening?

I followed the rest of the guide and I believe everything else is ok.

    Thanks again.

Try doing the wad install for the cios instead and see if it gives you the error still.

You will need to find the wad file yourself. Its illegal to post it here.

    Just google

    IOS38-64-v3610.wad

Place that wad file in the root of your sd card and run the ciosRev14 installer again but this time select wad install.

Also with your hard drive not being detected.I believe that with Rev12 and above you have to use a certain usb port on the wii.Try switching usb ports and see if your hard drive can be seen then.

Maybe it's just me, but if a New York lawyer invited me to perform illegal modifications and "ACCEPT MONEY" for the service provided, I might be a little hesitant to do so. I might as well start an account with the username Nintento Police, and ask someone to sell me a hard drive with 200+ games on it. I don't necessarily think that's the case here, but any thread agreeing to pay for mods raises more than a few red flags for me. There's plenty of info here at gbatemp to hack your Wii properly, so do like we all do and research. If time is money, then just buy your games. If your a lawyer, then you can afford it [IMG]

    Hi:

I just tried what you suggested. I received an error

    Install ERROR! (ret = -1035)

I did try putting both the hard drive and the usb key on both usb ports on the back of the Wii - same thing happened each time - not recognized.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks again.

    To Mr. DS Fanatics:

I have researched how to do the mod and have taken the advice of a few members here. For some reason or another, its not working. I was able to install this mod on a friends Wii with success, but he had one with the old system version.

If you cannot post any useful comments, such as something helpful to me, then but out and go someplace else.

As for me being a lawyer - so what. You saying that I should be held to a higher moral caliber? Who are you and what do you do? Is it okay for you to be a crook? And how do you know I haven't bought all the games for which I made backups?

And, as for me having the money to buy games, etc. - that's really not the point. I enjoy hacking my Wii and, like you say in your description, I spend more time hacking, or trying to hack, than playing games. Its just a hobby for me.
